My coworker said my tattoos make my arms look dirty. Should I report them to HR for harassment?
Labor and Employment attorney, here. Having tattoos is not a protected characteristic, so you're fucked. You have to tether it to your race or (this is more colorable) a mental disability you have. You have the additional problem, assuming you can somehow tether the one comment to a protected characteristic that a one-off trivial comment is neither severe or pervasive enough to create a hostile work environment. The law does not protect you against minor social slights. If it did, everyone would have a claim.
>>18777248>tether it to your raceIt is literally my heritage, not to mention it holds deep religious significance to me and my people, so by insulting me she also is insulting my culture and my faith.all of which are protected under human rights laws. I have a slam dunk case
>>18777248If you're a woman, any offhand comment is a hostile work environment and you can sue.
>>18777312No. It necessarily has to be severe or pervasive.
>>18777399It was severe. Imagine if I told my indian coworker that her dark skin makes her look dirty
