If they organically bought their own trilbies/fedoras, they would have slightly different brim widths and crown shapes, not only the exact same shape with different colours. Anyway, trilbies and fedoras normally have no business getting worn with shorts, except for lederhosen, and maybe a wide-brimmed hat could be acceptable for the functional appearance, particularly if it looks like it is a cowboy or outback hat.
>>18781158The biggest problem with this was the dumb idea that just putting a hat on could suddenly transform a guy from a nerdy slob wearing a T-shirt and shorts with no personality into a classy gentleman from the past without any extra effort. This sadly has caused classic hats to be looked down upon for a decade. As for looking the same you will notice that in the past most people made their own creases and wearing the hat would cause unique wear- so the other problem here beyond all being the same is the hats aren't even really worn.
