Why are these so divisive? What do we think about them?
who the fuck is we?
>>18783624>What do weshut your mouth
>>18783624>Why are these so divisive? They're associated with millennials and therefore cringe.
>>18783624I dont like them. I find a polo looks better. For some reason they remind me of unfashionable "tighty whitey" underwear.
>>18783644Igor and his plethora of personas.
>>18783624They only look good on buff guys
>>18783644Us
>>18783624I think they only look good with a jacket
>>18783624The problem I tend to see with henley shirts is that there really isn't a benefit to wearing them. The neck opening and buttons are an additional point of failure when I can wear a T-shirt that just fits properly. Maybe they might be better if you intend to expect to change weight and want a shirt that can more easily adjust?
>>18784174Originally the point was we didn't have elastic collars so to get that narrow of a neckhole you had to use buttons. But functionally the biggest thing is controlling the ventilation. It became sportswear for rowers because they could unbutton them all the way without a collar chaffing their necks while they rowed. That's still the biggest benefit. You aren't supposed to be buttoning them up unless you're cold. People with fully buttoned henelys look fucking retarded. They are better than a tee shirt at keeping you cool.
jeet core
>>18783624They're old fashioned, but not in the fancy old fashioned way, rather in the simple cheap old fashioned way. A normal jersey is simpler and therefore more functional, a polo or true collared shirt is more stylish. The henley sits inbetween with no niche justifying its existence.>>18784174This.
>>18784186Ha, Thanks for the education anon. I can see them being great for that specific use. But otherwise I hate henleys.
>>18783624If you are an attractive guy and wear just a henley and jeans you probably get laid.
>>18783624I like them for wearing under dress shirts without being seen with the (dress shirt) top button undone.Great when it gets a bit chilly.
>>18784186Okay, so it's basically like a polo. Problem is a lot of situations where you'd wear a polo, a henley wouldn't be acceptable. Like a lot of golf and tennis clubs won't accept collarless shirts. And if it's something like soccer or baseball, that makes sense, but these are team sports and you might not have control over what you wear if you're wearing a uniform.
>>18784512Hilariously, the point of the polo over the henley was to pop the collar. It's supposed to keep your neck from being sunburned. That was the innovation.
>>18783624they’re nice af? who doesn’t like them?
they remind me of pajamas.
>>18783624It's just a v-neck T-shirt for heterosexual men.
>>18783624I personally like them, though I don't have any in my size anymore. Used to wear them over polos to get a poor man's rugby sweater look. Solo they're nice for cool days where you may get a little warm outside or cool/warm discrepancies between indoors and outdoors.
