I went in to an orthodontist to enquire about braces and he said I would need to either get double jaw surgery or a palate expander as well as the braces . The double jaw surgery being the better but more expensive choice and the palate expander I would have to remove one of my lower incisors which I think would look weird.Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with either and if the palate expander effected the appearance of their upper face at all.
I had one as a kid, don't remember literally anything about it
>>18784482You have the same problem as me it seems, good upper jaw alignment but the lower teeth are crowdedIt's my body, I get exactly one of it. I don't smoke, I don't drink and I don't skimp. I'm saving up for a double jaw surgery. You should do the sameThat being said, palate expanders are good too. Don't let them remove your teeth though
>>18784708I'm keen on the palate expander because it'll open up my airways apparently which would be nice. But yeah I definitely don't want to remove any teeth.I was just curious about the effects of the palate expander on the upper/mid face because some say they get some growth there. I just want to know if it's gonna be too much though to the point my face looks noticeably different.
>>18784718Yeah, there's youtube videos about it. Looksmaxxers getting it for their midface then realising their breathing benefits.Get a second opinion or a third. Don't let them take your teeth
right on, thank you will ask around
>>18784482>Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with either and if the palate expander effected the appearance of their upper face at all.Yeah on my first visit to the orthodontist he told me I needed upper jaw surgery. Went to the jaw surgeon who told me I didn't need surgery. Turns out the orthodontist was wrong about me needing surgery. I got braces for two years and my teeth are now perfectly aligned.
>>18784994oh yeah I had to remove 4 teeth
>>18784482Never remove your teeth it will reduce your jawline significantly and lead to future problems. Just get veneers if you're an adult and be done with it on the same day.
>>18785020can i get veneers if my teeth are crooked?
>>18785020>and lead to future problemswhat kind of problems ?
>>18785037Yeah that's the point, you get perfectly straight teeth the same day. Pricey but cheaper than surgeries and you avoid years of orthodontics.>>18785109susceptibility to sinus infections, neurological problems, cognition decline (dementia) to name a few.
