this pomade when shorter, the clay works fine when its a bit longer. would love a cheaper product rec though

I have hair past my shoulders so a tiny bit of styling spray and then just brush it through. The weight keeps it in place. When it was shorter (just past my ears) I used pomade.
>>18784831I am stuggling bigtime with this right now as I have been growing my hair out. When it's shorter I do well with clay, or spiking gel, but now that it's long (down to my collar at the back, and down past my chin when wet) it's getting hard to get this right. I've started mixing some cream and some clay together which gets decent results sometimes but it's hard to get right. I can't use nothing and I can't use anything too light because my hair goes way too curly and fwuffy and until it's down past my shoulder blades and has enough of its own weight I have to tame it somehow.What are some suggestions for me?
