Want to get a /fa/ warm jacket for this winter. Is a parka a good option?
>>18785238No, they’re extremely basic and uninteresting. I would strongly recommend you look at work jackets. They often have some real character and style to them.
>>18785238get a wool jacket it's less gay
>>18785297What do you think about ROFA's jackets?
>>18785330Fuck that. Synthetic shells are good if you’re getting rained on or snowed on for extended periods of time but they don’t age or build character as you wear them. I would get like pic related. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune to be very warm and be a piece of outerwear that looks better as it gets older. Half the secret to good looking outerwear is them gaining that patina as they age.
>>18785356>patinaNTA but I live in a rainy area so I'm pretty much forced to wear something waterproof during fall and springDo I have any options aside from shells? Leather maybe?
>>18785357You could look into waxed jackets which are going to be as close to waterproof as you can get without resorting to a synthetic shell. The Flint and Tinder Waxed Trucker Jacket is a really well known and popular one and you can get it with a wool lining for a bit of extra money. Not cheap though, I think it runs close to $400 but is most definitely a BIFL piece that will only get better looking every year you own it. I’m actually very much considering buying one for myself right now. Leather is a possibility if properly treated to shed water but I warn you they are incredibly heavy jackets. I have a. Ice one I use while riding my motorcycle and it weighs like five fucking pounds. It’s not something I would really want to wear around town unless I had no other option. I would say that every guy should probably own a leather jacket though. They do last a lifetime and get prettier as they age. Just not my first choice as a daily wear jacket.
>>18785358Thanks anonIssue is I need something with a hood otherwise I'll get drenched but I'll look at what you said
