Going to Planet Fitness as my first gym, anything I should know?
I saw a shirtless guy there. He had no definition, not much size either.

>>77277929I've actually heard that Planet Fitness has upgraded their equipment in many locations the past few years. I hope you make some new friends, buddy.
Yeah, work out there for maybe six months then go to a real gym. Planet fitness doesn't have freeweight barbells, and their dumbells only go up to 75lb, so after 6-12 months you won't be able to push yourself. Still to five to eight reps and make sure you are 0-1 reps in reserve. Smith machine bench isn't as bad as people say it is but you can't exactly do the squat on the smith machine. Do leg press instead until you get a real gym.
>>77277934Like any of the "men" there could rape me
>>77277929It's awesome if you go when there are few people there, like the middle of the night. When it's swamped with the elderly and ghetto trash/half of the local high school (often indistinguishable these days) it's horrific. Get in get out.
>>77277929thanks for the skellington, I like to collect them
>>77277929I'll be honest with you. if it's your first gym, I think you should go to a place with less retards and more free machines. spend $100-300 a month on a swanky gym, they will let you pay in cash usually and do it monthly so no bullshit. at some you can even do a free trial for a few days.for new people at the gym, I always see the same pattern, which is any excuse of bad weather or crowded gym or eh I'm not spending that much no big deal if I miss a day, week, month....if you shell out for a nice place, you'll want to actually be there. you won't have to wait on machines. you'll feel good being there. you won't want to skip days because you paid a lot of money for access. if you then build up good habits and experience on the machines, then you can switch to a cheaper option like pf.
>>77277929You need weighted dips and pullups if you have no decent freeweights so get a cheapo belt.
They have the infamoua Lunk Alarm
>>77277941>Smith machine bench isn't as bad as people say it isSmith machine bench is fucking awful. When I was just starting out, I went to planet fitness for like 3-4 months, got up somewhere between 1-1.5 plate smith bench press, then switched gyms and did free weight bench press and had to go all the way back to naked bar because my ability to stabilize the barbell was so weak.
>>77277931Yeah why they got so many mirrors?
