Is SL5x5 still THE beginner program? Or is it powerlifter propaganda?

>inb4 SS
beginners should NOT be doing olympic lifts
>>
>>77284626
>should NOT
It's literally the perfect time to learn them given you have an iq over 95.

>Is SL5x5 still THE beginner program?
Pretty much yes. Low bar squats boost testosterone, which causes the rest of your body to grow even if you don't do direct isolation work.

>ohp deadlift and squat all on the same day 5x5 and assuming +75% of 1rm

maybe if you want to be an oly weightlifter
like if you gotta do the movement then yeah but for 99% of people they're lifting for good health and good looks, they don't plan on competing so training Oly lifts is just added injury risk doing a very dynamic movement
>>
>>77284626
Your weightlifting routine should depend on why your lifting, not how new you are at it.

If you have a coach**
>>
5 x 5 is shit

Do 6 x 6. That’s where the real growth happens
>>
>>77284626
How can you do 2 compounds in 1 day if you're aren't a beginner. Especially squat and DL
Only OHP can possibly be mixed with something else
>>
>>77284694
Overriden by having an iq over 95 unlike this tard >>77284652
>Being explosive..le bad !
>>
>>77284727
As a beginner you are weak so it’s not as taxing to your CNS
>>
what should i even do as a beginner? ive been doing SS for a month now and its been going fine, but a friend of mine told me i'll never make any gains, and now this thread showed up...
>>
>>77284794
Add some accessories for abs, arms and delts. Other than that keep doing wat you are doing, consistently following a program is the most important thing for a beginner.
>>
I tried 5x5 once after doing a split my whole life and the strength gains were immense but I actually got way smaller and stopped. I didn't 'feel' as good as being pumped either
>>
>>77284794
the most important (and difficult) thing for a beginner is to just stay consistent and at it
If SS is working for you then fuck it keep doing SS get those quads
>>
>>77284701
6x6 or 3x12 is peak programming fr

ngmi
>>
>>77284626
Yes. It'll teach you everything you need to learn about the gym, then when progression stops you'll be prepared for any intermediate and advanced routine
>>77284639
This is not true unfortunately, if anything it'll wear you out and tank your test progression.
Please don't take this as me hating on squats, I'm fully indoctrinated into squat supremacy.
>>77284646
Pretty easy when you're not even at 1/2/3/4
>>77284727
>How can you do 2 compounds in 1 day if you're aren't a beginner

>>77284794
How big is your friend?
My only regret for the 2y I ran it was not doing dedicated arms, I think I'm genetically disadvantaged with skinny arms and nobody cares about any muscle more than biceps, so normies will mog you. I'd do arms on off days.
>>77284840
The real truth nuke is 2x5, 2x10
>>
Too much squatting.
Squat and Bench press 2x a week
Deadlift and OHP 1x a week.
>>
>>77284626
Why would need assistance? That just makes the lifts easier and less effective.
>>
>>77284626
>beginners should NOT be doing olympic lifts
Arguably they don't need to do power lifts either. Just put them on a chest press machine, leg press machine, shoulder press machine, leg curl machine, row machine, and pull down machine and they have the basics covered. Fewer technical concerns and better able to train them to move correctly when they don't have to worry about the barbell sitting on their shoulders or keeping their back straight to avoid pulling something.

A
Squat 3x5
OHP 3x5
DL 3x5

B
Squat 3x5
Weighted Dips 3x5
Weighted Pull-Ups 3x5

Wow, I fixed your program. Replace dips with bench if you want, I just like dips.
Cleans are dumb and too technical. Most people won't actually have the proper form too benefit from them. Add 3 minutes of different core exercises that aren't isometric every day and you're set.
>>
>5x5 meme in the year of our lord
>>
>>77285309
what's wrong with bench? It's less injurous than dips
>>
completely outdated and has led many to the snap necropolis

you will also likely turn in your natty card once you start hitting high numbers but still look like an amorphous blob instead of tyler durden
>>

sybau NPC retard
>>
SL5x5 and SS turned a generation of men into fat booty trex
>>
>>77284995
>How big is your friend?
Fairly big. The guy's pretty strong for a natty lifter, I think, though he's way shorter than me. I think I'm like you, since my legs were always fairly strong and my torso is alright, but my arms were always kind of thin, so I've also been doing biceps and triceps work alongside the big lifts.

>>77285361
>>77285327
>>77285366
Well then if SL and SS are bad why don't you tell the class about your beginner routine?
>>
>>77285533
I dont do a beginner routine.
>>
>im in a hurry and can focus exclusively on strength
texas method
>im not in a hurry, do lots of conditioning, have to focus on other things in life
531 + bbb or or bbs or fsl depending on goals
i will probably do this for the rest of my life.
>>
>>77285693
>95% 1RM sets
>5-10lbs every 4 weeks
this isn't for beginners, it's for intermediates and people who've plateued
>>
>>77285533
PPL. upper/lower is also stronger for beginners
>>
>>77284626
Yeah its goated. You can also follow the same process with other exercises. Just start with the lowest amount you can and add 5 pounds or less each time. Simple, effective, progressive overload. Switching days of the week you do certain exercises does not matter very much.
