Pay can be sort of shit for lower-level jobs, but if you get some non-combat gig it isn't too bad; might earn cool medals in combat but also get BTFO.

In terms of pure cash, yeah.
But people in the army get so many benefits like food, housing and healthcare all payed for plus guaranteed pay raises it's pretty good.

at what age would it be considered too old to go for it? I'm 26

Only army worth fighting for lost in 1945, it's just different flavors of kleptocrats in charge now and there's no point throwing your life away to be a mercenary for them.

In Burgerstan at least, I think the Army raised enlistment age up to 42 now.

Fuck no. The army is where gains go to die, where your best case scenario is literally to get an injury so you can claim disability and get out early. Even if you got something relatively nice like a non-combat chairforce gig and you lived off base, it would still just be worse than not being in the military.

you can gibsmaxx from the army or any military branch if you do it smartly
>join cyber, IT, or another specialty that gives max security clearance and post-service opportunities
>only join for the minimum possible time, some of the desirable fields can be 5 or 6 year enlistments but they're worth it for the training and certification
>make sure to document every ailment and even make stuff up like back pain and sleep problems etc
>leave the service honorably
>use GI bill for school
>get a cleared job as a contractor while going to school
>get VA benefits, 100% disability is 4k/mo tax free for life, free healthcare, and zero property taxes in many states
>get degree and guaranteed 150k+ jobs with minimum jeets/chinks because it's all cleared US citizens, best of all work 40 hours not tech or finance hours
none of this is secret but you still gotta do it, one can set themselves up nicely by 30

I'm sure it's the same. The UK has how big of an "army" yet can never seen to muster more than about a dozen actual soldiers for anything
