These obese strongtards are really about to embrace thor's enhanced lift over colton's fair deadlift.

Sumo deadlift is fake and gay.

Strongman is cool. Powerlifting is gay.
Simple as.

Sumo is a different lift

Let's see their bare knuckle MMA match with pride rules. Whoever wins has the deadlift world record.

>Sumo
Sumo is an entirely differently lift from conventional deadlift. Not even the same lift. Sumo has no more than quarter of the rom.

Conventional (though a little more like stiff leg off the ground):

Sumo:

The first is a proper deadlift. The second is just a way for little guys to get inflated records in rules originally designed for people doing conventional deads. Everything about sumo is offensive when it's allowed in the same category as a real deadlift. It's like the arch presses where the guy moves a the bar a quarter of an inch to do a press. It's not even a bench press. It doesn't belong in the brench press event. They really need to make strict rules against these deceitful tricks.

Wrong, if it's an entirely "different lift" as strongfats like to say then every single powerlifter would be doing sumo at the highest level, but they don't. Because it equalizes different body proportions. You don't say hafthor has a shorter rom due to his longer reach even though it's true.
You're fat. Get over it.

Exactly, glad you can agree it's a different lift with all the hitching, cheating, and gear assist. Glad we can all agree the real record holder is John Haack

They don't need a technique to equalize it. In a competition someone with shorter arms and legs will have an advantage due to leverage in both the bench press and squat which can make up for the difference in totals. Within a power lifting competition, you are ranked based on totals so it's not really necessary to even worry too much about technique unless you're so fucked in proportions that you should admit power lifting is not the sport for you. The vast majority of people who will tend to be very close to average in terms of proportions and absolutely do not have those problems. There's no reason to ruin a sport by making easily abusable exceptions for the small minority of people who have terrible proportions for any sport.
>has a shorter rom
He can cut that rom in half by doing sumo and get a 550 kg. But then again, he'd be doing sumo not deadlift. Consider my videos again. The little asian guy doesn't really have any problems with his problems for doing deadlift. He has fairly average proportions and his arms are a good length. Yet he's not doing deadlift. He's doing sumo. Why? Not because he has to compensate for issues from proportions but because he is lifting in a weightclass where people have been cheating with sumo for a while and that's the only choice in that class if you want to compete. Both the videos I linked exhibit this. You can see the difference in range. They're huge. Even if Dillon has longer arms, he's still moving the bar twice, maybe even three times the distance. A quarter of his height at least. Whereas the little guy moves it three inches. Sumo again is just a deceitful trick to artificially inflate totals/lifts. It is not an honest lift. Rule changes are needed.

A deadlift is hip extension. The point of deadlift in competition is to display strength of the hip flexors.
Sumo removes much of the hip extension and just turns it into a short rom knee flexion movement. Squat already tests this. No reason to have sumo for this.

not gonna read all that fatass. Every single sport has banned gear. Sprinting has banned those springy Nikes. Swimming has banned suits. Every sport bans PEDs at least nominally. Your sport isn't even a sport. It's called stuffing your face full of fastfood and protein powder.

Do you bench 225?
>>
In a conventional deadlift without straps Colton could probably beat Thor. Colton has held onto 500kg for his sumo DL (520kg in straps) where as Thor couldn't hold on to 440kg iirc in his power meet, did 510kg with suit and figure 8 straps and just failed 515. Colton also benches more.

So why doesn't Colton just put the suit and straps on and beat Hafthor's record?
