Bread and potatoes are basically cutting food unless you're deep into a cut. 2 big ass potatoes is 500 or so calories without butter? I also eat the skins for vitamins but it's fries and insane amounts of oil that restaurants put on potatoes. Bread is filling unless its a whole loaf of butter toast, like a slice or 2 of a baguette and a deli sandwich and I'm toast if you want some filling meals with foods you crave on the cut. Or if I made some cubed roasted potatoes with a good amount of oil and even some butter and parsley at the end then I could eat nearly 1lb plus all the fat.

Depends on where you are looking. Asia has a lot of carbs, but places like Mediterranean diet has a lot of carbs but also high fat.

The reality is that there are a lot of paths for success and healthy, and neither are perfect. each of these diets come with more predisposition to certain diseases for example.

The point is you can't just make blanket statements like "this whole macronutrient is bad and you need to never eat it".

Look at real life scenarios (whole population diets for hundreds of years), see the pros and cons, and take your pick.
