if you're still young, you could probably get somewhat decent results doing this, but it would require a ton of volume without added weight. if you're really committed to getting fit without weights, you should probably add in sprinting a few times per week.

Yeah that's bullshit. Stick to mid rep range - 6-12 reps. 3 sets. It's not hard. Change your body position. Change time under tension. Change foot position. You'll figure it out. You'll find a way to make the pushup harder to keep getting gains. Will you get body builder gains? No. Will you look like you can handle shit? Yeah.
