for my entire life, rice has been pushed as the healthier alternative to bread, even though sourdough, rye, and whole wheat bread contain more nutrients and minerals, for less calories and carbs.

The only reason why I can think of is anti-whiteness. Rice and chicken is considered the best cutting meal, yet bread isn't? Interesting.

Rice is basically garbage food except purely as caloric filler. It's mogged by every alternative, particularly potatoes and even bread as you mentioned. It's also much worse for the environment and requires more resources to grow.

So keep on with the bread, it mogs rice both nutrient and flavor-wise.

yes whole wheat sourdough rye bread is absolutely goated
and if you let the dough rest for >24h it's super light on your digestion as well

but bread like this is hard to get in most of the world unless you make it yourself
Germany, the nordics and some US cities are basically the only places where this is readily available

the negative comments about bread mostly come from ketoschizos here
and in general because most supermarket bread isn't even legally bread but a sweet with the nutritionally value of sugar

rice isn't a cutting meal though!?
on the contrary
it got to it's status because it's easy to bulk on rice without instantly getting diabetes or drinking liters of oil
nutritionally, real(tm) bread / potatoes / quinoa / oats / whole wheat paste etc. are all better carb sources
