NTA. I pay for real moves every time, and nowadays I'll pay for delivery and install on an appliance too. But every dude on the street knows every other dude on the street will show up to help move something if needed. We got a piano off of Craigslist a few years ago, and we had people standing around because neighbors came out of the woodwork when we asked for help.

Be self sufficient, but know sometimes you need help and be ready and able to lend a hand. Everyone I know walks around with the full confidence that I'll be there if they need me, so they're there for me. I don't abuse this, and none of them do either, but it's part of being in a community.

Furthermore, trust me, you want to be the guy people call when they need help. Social gains like nothing else.

600 squat is not going to help you with moving furniture. Main muscles are biceps, hamstrings, low back, and chest.
Most pieces of furniture that you'd need to move are less than 100 pounds, the issue is they're bulky and awkward to carry. You need strong biceps and chest to be able to hug a big cabinet or couch into you, and walking with weight (not just standing up and down like an autistic gymcel) requires hamstrings, not quads. Honorable mentions to shoulders they get tired when you're lifting lighter objects. Hand strength is necessary but not grip, it's straight finger pinch-type strength.

More or less true in my experience. But if he had to pick up a something like very heavy rug by himself he might be fucked with weaker legs.

Blue collar laborer here with a job that requires a lot of lifting and moving stuff. Biggest muscles I use on the job based on soreness and size are triceps, delts, hamstrings, and calves (mostly from general walking on that one though). Biceps are more rare.

did moving appliances for home depot for a year and worked for a moving company for three. Muscles that were sore for me the most were triceps and pretty much all the muscles in my back/shoulders especially my extensors and rhomboids and also my hands. My calves would only get sore if there was a lot of walking and I mean a lot.
To be fair my extensors were probably sore because I wasn't lifting with perfect posture. Hands were the worst.
