Why not a little of this, a little of that. Mix it up, instead of this slavish adherence to one system or the other. As long as you're pushing weight, you're making progress.
>>77311397Well I intermittently workout according to my life for about 6 years. Muscle gains lost over time of course.last year I trained for a couple of month using his program and these gains I still retain right now.
Intensity is most importance. But you most likely still need more than one set. Even Mentzer's "ideal routine," which he had his personal trainees running 3-4 workouts a week on had two sets for most muscle groups. Just a short rest between motions. And that's with Mike there in the room pushing the trainee to give everything they have. On your own you're probably not going to get that full intensity that really makes the two sets all you need. For most people it's best to concede that you're not hitting that intensity and just do something like 6-9 sets per muscle group split over 2-3 motionsI'd recommend something like:>Shoulders and Arms>Legs>Rest>Push (Chest and abs)>Pull (Back and traps)>Rest>RestIf you need another leg day for whatever reason put it after pull day.

>>77311397I thought it was bullshit but after a stall on my old 3x10 per exercise routine I tried his ideal routine with 3 rest days between workouts and felt a hell of a lot better and started advancing my lifts again after 8 months of stalling.Currently at 4 rest days between workouts, just did arms on Tuesday and my shit is all still slightly sore but I'll be right by Sunday which is leg day.Incredibly time efficient too, do recommend.
>>77311397>this is what I do and never have I tried to do more sets additionally maybe even with a different training style1 set is stupid I have to do more than one set.
>>77311397>ThoughtsThat the advice of roiders is worthless. Just look up some books from bronze era bodybuilders. You'll never find any of this dumb shit modern advice, why? Cause it only works with roids.
>>77311397Started my low to moderate weight high volume routine today. Going to rump up sets over the next weeks. Did 16 sets of back and 10 sets of abs. Next week for back will do 18 sets and 12 for abs.Tomorrow I have shoulders and triceps. Will start with 16 for shoulders and 8-10 for triceps.
Goal is 20-30 sets per muscle group per week. Chest biceps, legs, off, back abs, shoulders triceps, off, off.
>>77311397Lift to Lift
Probably fine if you’re doing a SHITLOAD of low weight to failure. Stopping after one heavy set that you can only do 3-5 reps of to failure isn’t doing shit for you. I think two sets one being a 3-5 failure set and then deloading to something you burn out at in the 12 range is probably better for both growth and strength
>>77311397>Mentzerfags be likeMike actually discovered a secret lifting technique that totally works but it was buried by that bastard Arnold and his IFBB henchmen who wanted to prevent DYELs from achieving huge muscles 100% Natty.
>>77311397>one set to failureayo this nigga only doing 80lbs of total volume lmao
>>77313424People always fuck with what Mentzer actually said.Mentzer does not = his fans.Mike advocated for a 3 set warm up with upwards of 90% of working set weight. And then a single set to failure. Pretty much every modern lifting routine incorporates this concept. He was advocating for Reps to Failure, Quality Reps and Reps in Reserve.Mike was just autistic and high so he says a lot of grandiose shit to say something simple.
>>77313430What secret?1 set of reps to failure around 6-10 reps per muscle group and go home?

>>77311418>working out two days in a rowIt's like you know nothing about Mentzer. If you've completed a set to failure, take a whole week off. At least.

>>77311397Mentzer died at age 49. If he had lived he would have realized that training to failure was the mistake in his thinking and corrected it.
>>77311397Well I guess it has some truth to it but you faggots always deal in absolutes. Just train by your gut feel and not by someone telling you to do it this way or that way, and be honest to yourself don’t just cruise on the gym but really push yourself out of your comfort zone.
