Your delts may be strong, but your rotator cuff muscles generally aren't. So you can push heavy weight, but your body can't handle the stabilization, which can lead to injury. The same applies when doing a seated dumbbell shoulder press with a chair supporting your back.This happened to me. I switched from dumbbells to free weight barbaell, used 80 kg, and injured one side of my neck. When you push to failure, the lower part of your neck gets crunched hard while you stabilize your back, and easy to injure yourself.
