Lean into positive reinforcement for your successes (whatever they are), not negative reinforcement for your inevitable mistakes. You’re stuck in the latter, which is making you associate your overall effort with negative feelings, which isn’t sustainable.A practical way to apply this here, for instance, would be to use that feeling of regret over what you ate to motivate yourself to go for a long walk. Then, when you feel shame for the mistake, you can reassure yourself that you at least did something to ameliorate that mistake, and take pride in that.
