>Compared to other forms of cardio like rooning, jogging, biking , swimming, etc.
Are they good for fat loss?
What else are they good for?
>>
Every day the same thread.

QRD: it’s a waste of time
>>
>>77315232
A lot of people I know of that lived past 90 did a lot of walking
>>
>>77315235
>Every day the same thread.
People actually post this question everyday?
>Its a waste of time
No.
>>
>>77315238
Damn
>>
>>77315239
Yes. People are lazy and don’t want to run
>>
>>77315245
I'd be willing to jog or roon. Which is better?
I already bike sometimes depending on seasonal variation.
>>
>>77315245
12 miles up a 14er with and scrambling to the top is harder than your jog, though less efficient.
>>
>>77315232
Yeah its pretty good. Humans are made for it.
You can also do it for quite long and dont forget the more you weigh the more calories are burnt because you have to carry your weight.
It is however time heavy
>>
>>77315266
I walk daily for an hour if not more.
>>
>>77315232
what i value alot about walking compared to jogging or any other form of workout is how it doesnt trigger extra hunger.

it makes fatloss more bearable. also its accessibility is undbeatable. just get a few busstops off and walk the rest.
>>
Ruck instead. Full tacticool
>>
>>77315232
The deficit should be doing the work regardless but your capacity to recover physical and neurological fatigue is greatly diminished on a cut. So I think walking is a good tool in that circumstance because of the sheer volume of it you can do daily and be no worse for wear. If you've already trained up a form of cardio just do because you'll lose it if you don't.
>>
>>77315232
>primate bodies are primarily adapted to climbing
>human bodies have specifically adapted to walking

>Are walks effective?
Sounds like it to me.

zone 2 is better for general health and consistency
>>77315275
i noticed the same thing, when i was a rooner i would get insane carb cravings at night, but with walking i don't binge as much
>>77315232
walking also has psychological benefits, helps to reduce screen time etc...
>>77315297
walking allows you to manage hunger on a cut too, instead of eating 500 less calories you do 250 calories cut then walk 250 cal worth so you don't have to starve yourself as much, makes a big difference for sustained cut
>>
if yous a fat fuck yea
else fuggedaboutit

>Rucks, bucks and sucks

Yes specifically while hitchhiking to sad piano music.

I'd just use it to cut more. Hop on p-smf get your daily deficit of ~1200-1600 only eat enough to meet protein requirements and some micros/electrolytes double down on the walks/runs. Hunger just doesn't exist when you're metabolizing fat. Only time it stars is when you're so lean you're running into issues actually mobilizing fat. So you hop off it a week or two get sanity and leptin or whatever back then back to it. As long as you're not eating a cake on your week off you'll make huge dents in your fat stores probably in excess of would you do with a consistent deficit.
>>
Fat loss is all diet. Walking doesn't really suppress your appetite.
>>
>>77315308
I get hungrier when I do physical work
>>
>>77315332
PSMF or super high protein keto (60p/40f) has worked fucking wonders for me for fat loss. A clean carb refeeding day every week or 2 works well to break/prevent stalls.
>>
>>77315398
I wouldn't be that ambitious with it past the first month or so. It is hard on your hormones not just test but the ones responsible for sleep, stress, fat mobilization, metabolism ect it not worth wrecking yourself to get to 13% or whatever a couple weeks sooner.

Walks are VERY good.
You should eventually ease into rucking as well.
>>
>>77315316
hey im walking here
>>
>>77315265
its not less efficient at all, over the course of a month if you hiked everyday you could easily cover 500 miles walking everyday with hardly any effort, try running 500 miles a month. tl;dr running is for retarded instant gratification NIGGERS
>>
Greg says 14,000 steps a day is nonnegotiable for getting shredded
>>
>>77315797
i ride my bike but thats nice
>>
>>77315775
I do both
Walk everywhere I can average 5 miles a day.
Run 3 days a week with varied pace and distances.
There's very little instantly gratifying about running after it's an established habit. Kind of like lifting you're not getting prs every week or even every month unless you were training like absolute shit before. If anything you have to be way more careful and controlled.
>>
You can’t out walk a bad diet
>>
>>77315775
Sprinting is based.

Running/Jogging only works if you are either training for the military or related in police forces.
Otherwise you have no reason for it.

What about the mental illness benefits
>>
hey it a beautiful saturday and i have nothing to do because im a pathetic autistic loser. i guess ill go walk around outside for hours. at least ill be outdoors i guess.
>>
>>77315951
Get your crap together and have a yard sale or haul it to the goodwill. Pretty stressful if you've never done it before to interact with a bunch of strangers trying to fuck you over but it'll get you out of your comfort zone for a few hours.
>>
>>77315802
i suppose im just being dramatic perchance you know how it be tho, you gotta go so far in the other direction of retardation that you end up with a balanced approach
>>
>>77315951
unironically yes and this also applies to (You) anon
>>
>>77315341
>Walking doesn't really suppress your appetite.
it does
>>
>>77315232
I walk to work and back (that's 10k steps and one way is uphill), plus whatever I walk during the day. I stay sixpack lean without trying and don't do any additonal cardio. That said, its not particularly effective or time efficient.
>>
walking is a meme
>>
I dropped from morbidly obese to regular obese and am on my way to just overweight. Did it by fasting and walking. Once I lose more I want to start jogging.
>>
>>77315232
yeah bro just a few more steps and you'll the weight in no time
lol
lmao even
>>
OP you want HEAVY HANDS
Aka take two light dumbbells and swing them high while walking
It really does make walking much more intense and full body, unlike normal cardio that often only targets the legs
It also does look really gay so accept that
>>
>>77315232
Yes. Walks are great for getting shredded. Eat right, train right, and get 10k steps a day and expect to lose weight. I still like to run on the treadmill twice a week tho so im getting more intense cardio in addition to walking
>>
>>77315232
agree with >>77315235

i love walking and can walk a shitton under ideal circumstances but i've never felt healthier because of it

if you don't already enjoy it find something else to do
>>
>>77315232
Walks are for calves and personal enjoyment. Running ,jogging and rucking are garbage. Unless you hate your knees.
Trail running is acceptable, also uphill grass sprints.
Swimming and biking are peak outdoor cardio. Just be sure to have your bike properly set-up. Otherwise you can eventually fuck your knees, dick, back, wrists and neck.

>I walk daily for an hour if not more.
pick up bace and do it for less than 40 minutes, work on posture and gait - frontal plane crossed with straight knee tucked chin extended thoracic - these kind of things

number of steps or duration means fuckall if quality is dogshit, and your bobbing up and down and/or hobbling side to side like a penguin - your head should rival that of chicken - as if it was tank gun riding on gyroscope
now THAT is walking - pictured are soldiers, soldiers even today WALK
>>
Walking is good for your posture
>>
If you are at the end of a cut cardio is sometimes the only cardio you can do without collapsing
>>
>>77316623

walking activates my penis
>>
How about rucking? Let's say I want to walk a little but don't have time for long hikes, so I want to squeeze more per unit of time by wearing a backpack with 10%-20% of my bw and go for a short walk.
>>
>>77317531
It’s awesome. I’m just about to head out with a 45lb plate strapped to me chest (like the Roman Legionnaires)
>>
>>77315232
they're good for having a hobby that's not lifting
possible jointgains if you do high elevation
decent way of tanning if you hate laying out in the open
>>
>>77317531
i dont think anything is wrong with it persay. for instance i am at my computer walking with 15 or so pounds right now its not a big deal dude just do different forms of cardio sometimes i ride my bike, sometimes i feel like running, cardio doesn't really matter as much as weightlifting anyways for getting aesthetic, it just gives you more calories for the day to fit in more protein and fat for hormones. As long as you are nattymaxx and under 15% body fat you'll be able to run bike walk as well as 80% of people if your cardio starts eating into your weightlifting you know youve gone too far and you should dial it back
>>
walking is effective for getting to places.
like walking to the park to do some intense freestyle dancing. and then walking to the store to buy some organic direct low acidity apple juice for 1,59€.
>>
Walking is good but it brings diminishing returns, and the benefit per minute is relatively low compared to other things. If you had a choice between walking an extra 4,000 steps per day and doing a sprint workout every week, the sprint workout will be much better. So the optimal amount of walking is basically whatever is convenient at or beyond like 7,000 steps. That might be 18,000 steps for some people and 7,000 for others. At the end of the day, more steps aren’t a surrogate for diet, sleep, real training, high intensity, etc.

What's your hiking goal this year? In a month I'm going to hike Mt. Olympus, can't wait to reach the house of the gods

im doing the pct in a month

Walking is supplemental. Definitely walk on days you’re too sore to lift, don’t be dumb enough to think you can cut lifting out altogether
>>
>>77318818
sobo?
>>
walking is a fkin waste of time but go ahead take 4 times the time to burn as much calories as I
>>
>>77315232
Calories per mile is roughly the same for walking and running, but walking takes more time. Walking is far, far less stressful on your body than running is (disproportionately so), so you can typically walk much farther than you can run, but it takes significantly longer

For cardio, your heart rate probably won't increase that much walking, so it isn't great in that regard

If you want to lose weight and have a lot of time, then walking is excellent. If you want to get your heart rate up, you have to walk uphill. Running is the natural upgrade to walking, but requires a long, long ramping up period (years) to make your body not fall apart when doing it for as far as you can walk
>>

>Walking is far, far less stressful on your body than running
This is the part that galaxy brains ITT don't seem to get.
