Thoughts on belt squats?
>>
>>77317567
My gym doesn't have them
>>
>>77317567
What is with dyels constantly trying to worm their way out of doing squats normally?

Bar on back, go.
>>
can belt squat replace RDL for glutes? I'm tired of this exercise
>>
>>77317619
Belt squats are quad-focused
>>
This or hack squats for quads?
Assuming im not gonna do traditional squats
>>77317592
nah
>>
>>77317626
Belt squats will give you glute DOMS if you're not used to them. If I was a bodybuilder or an assthot looking to build perfect buns I'd have them in my routine as an ass exercise. That said obviously they're no substitute for RDLs.
>>
>>77317626
>>77317654
the problem is I'm not a woman so lifting a normal charge with RDLs is taxing and I have to use straps. the energy commitment makes this exercise really unappealing to me. I can heavy load hip thrusts and just focus on lifting the weights, with RDLs I need to check on my form and still feel uncomfortable. tlrd hate RDL because cannot ooga booga
>>
>>77317659
Consider donkey kickbacks, machine or cable. They're a chick exercise but awesome for glutes.
>>
>>77317694
i do machine rear kicks, yeah
>>
Better than regular squats for everything except Powerlifting (cause it's mandatory). It's always a good idea to not load your spine unnecessarily, but if you "have to"; then I'd go for single leg variants (lunges) with dumbbells.
>>
>>77317637
>>77317888
just do zercher squats at lower weights if you're too stupid for back squats
>>
>>77317592
Any exercise that does axial loading is, by design, fucking retarded, and anyone using them with a certain amount of intensity is basically guaranteed to have atleast 1 severe back injury as a result.
>t. PT grad student
If you're not an ego liftinf fucktard or training for a comp that requires lifts with axial loading, just don't.
>>
>>77317659
skill issue. man-up and get over it; easy gains aren't real
>>
>>77317984
>you're not allowed to use moderately heavy weights relative to your strength and size
>you either lift heavy enough to get qualified for competitions or don't lift at all
please quit your graduation right now, the field is already too saturated with morons like you
protip to your stupid ass: just being able to do >lmao 1pl8 squats for reps is enough for you to be better conditioned than 90% of the population, less than 0.1% of the population will ever be capable of doing 1/2/3/4 for reps
>>
>>77318017
see you in snapcity
>>
>>77317592
>>77317619
Belt squats are considerably less taxing on the whole body, so they’re good for accumulating weekly volume.
>>77318022
lol was just going to post something to this effect. PTs are almost dead last on the list of people you should take seriously about weight training. Fucking scammers. Doctors would be last imo.
>>
>>77317567
i see a lot of pro athletes doing these to avoid spinal problems cause by squats and by caused I mean they are the reason and not form or anything else
>>
>>77317574
Landmine attachment, some yoga blocks and you're good to go.
>>
>>77319465
I'm struggling to picture how this would work but I'm intrigued.

Do glute drive. Sets of 15, same weight as your DL
>>
>>77317567
My gym has a fancy one made by Rogue. I've literally never seen it used even once in almost a year of membership and near daily attendance.
>>
>>77319469
The blocks just give you necessary range of motion. You can hold on to your boyfriend for stability.
Variations of this setup are possible depending on the topology of your gym.
>>
>>77320205
only works at home gym
In commercial gyms they'll think you went crazy
>>
>>77320210
And?
>>
>>77317592
>loaded spine, progressively, every week, for years, don't snap your shit, maximum CNS fatigue, anything else you're a fag
I immensely regret falling for this meme early on, the church of the big four needs to be abolished
>>
>>77317567
Id try it but dont know how to use it and dont want the entire gym pointing and laughing at me and then one of them pulling my pants down as a group of girls go by giggling
>>
>>77320216
Hot girls will point fingers at you
>>
>>77317567
It's the only leg exercise I really like as a tall person since any compound I do hits my glutes or lower back more than my quads. It's the best way to hit your quads without blowing out your knees.
>>
>>77320236
Hot girls are already making fun of you if you're ugly. If you're hot they'll think the weird exercises are quirky and fun.

After 20 years of heavy squatting and deadlifting with scoliosis, my lower back is thoroughly fucked up, so I belt squat or do leg press now. Machines are tools in the toolbox.
>>
>>77317567
I do them every other leg day or whenever I feel my lower back. The only problem is that the platform isn't adjustable and it's too low for me, so I have to stand on bumper plates to go full rom. And because of a lever I can lift almost 2x my back squat so that's a lot of walking around searching for plates lol
>>
I use them as a squat accessory in my home gym (lever). I really like them for volume
>>
>>77320205
thanks Picasso, the large pp is extremely accurate

Tried them, did not love them. Would do if I had no other options. Still prefer reverse nordic curls, squats, leg extensions, horizontal leg press. Still mostly squat and do leg extensions though. Been squatting 3-4 days a week and deadlifting twice a week for 15 years, no issues.
>>
>>77321400
>horizontal leg press
Are there plate-loaded horizontal leg presses?
>>
>>77317567
It's a Pull unlike Squats which is a Push.
You also don't get the erector spinae worked which happens with Barbell Squats.
