I know that I have no definition and look like an absolute dyel for lifting for like eight years. I never gave a fuck about nutrition until recently. At the latest, I’m kinda strong bench 115kg (253lbs) for 3 reps and dumbbell shoulder press 80kg (176lbs) for 4 reps. All in all, it wasn’t worth the time I put into it.

Progressing occasionally in reps and sometimes adding some weight, but not really… I’m just maintaining 10% for another 10 or so weeks until the end of summer, but my advise would be to reverse gradually out of your massive deficit once you reach your desired leanness, because you will dis losing muscle under eating by such a huge amount. First time posting here, wanted some thoughts and potential plan of action. This is my current stomach at about 235 lbs 30% bf. I was at one point 390 lbs (and for over a decade) so I guess I should consider myself lucky it's not worse.

I have about another 50-60 lbs to go. Stretch marks as you can see are really bad and I'm doing some thinking on what I can do for that. I see some belly button crepey-ness but no idea how bad it will be when I complete my weight loss.

My non-professional opinion is yes, you will probably need surgery. You still have 50 lbs to go you say, which is substantial, and it does appear that a lot of the fat is still in that same region. Even if you gain muscle, it won’t replace the mass lost there—that’s the issue. Your arms and even chest can get big again with muscle, but not really your stomach.

Even without surgery though, you look better and will continue to feel better and live longer. Good job.

Update: I still haven't felt the loving embrace of a woman. However, one did ask me for directions when I was hiking over the weekend, so I'm pretty much there. I think I'm gonna start running again, so we'll see how long that habit lasts. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk

if you can, pick up racquet sports. by far the most effortless way to lose weight (as long as you don't start eating an extra 600-800 calories a day). An hour or two of playing tennis 3-4 times a week will make the fat melt off, and it's actually fun unlike most other forms of cardio

if you enjoy swimming and have somewhere that you can swim laps that's also another excellent option which will also build your lats/shoulders. I think trying out racquet sports is still worth a shot (unless the wrist that's injured is your dominant hand). It'll take a few months to pick up, but once you get the hang of it it's quite fun. If you're somewhere that pickle ball is popular that's probably the easiest racquet sport to get involved in. It looks pretty gay but it's easy to pick up on and easy to find people to play with. Otherwise tennis / racquet ball / squash would be the way to go, whichever is most popular in your area so you'll always have someone to play with.

I've been putting on some muscle lately (been lifting for many years now) but can't seem to do it without also gaining a bit of fat that hides my 6 pack.

No alcohol at all. In the before photo I was still drinking a lot. I just smoke weed after my workouts to make me hungrier and then I consoooom food in large amounts. Mostly chicken, eggs and milk (only fairlife because its 13g protein per cup instead of 8g). If I start feeling slow from low carbs ill eat a whole pizza (maybe once a week).
On the performance side of things I squat, deadlift and bench every week. Had to bump chest to 2x a week cause I wasn't getting the progress I wanted.

I'm barely lifting now and I hope for the same in 5 years, 65kg low effort mode is Peak, still have all the free time in the world like my past unathletic 100kg self. And I can have days of eating and drinking 200g of sugar without gaining a pound unlike the good ol' times (I know it's unhealthy) but ideally I should be aiming for 1500~ healthy calories, I'm still experimenting and don't keep a consistent exercise plan but I exercise daily so maybe I need to up my calories to not have any cravings or my poor sleep habits are to blame for my low impulse control and cravings
