It takes more to recover from and is generally higher risk so you pad it lower intensity cardio to preserve endurance and give yourself some time to recover.Like lifting it's balancing act between intensity and volume, fatigue and recovery. If you lean too far into one at the cost of the others problems tend to occur. But you usually have lean in some direction to get the most out of it because the perfect center doesn't exist or isn't as productive.
