Why not use only machines for hypertrophy? What’s the point of bench squats deadlifts if you’re not trying to do powerlifting?

This is a perfectly fine way to put on mass as a beginner. The reason people go to barbells is that it is more effective for what most people want and machines get shit on because most people use them incorrectly by finding ways to simply lean this way or that using their own weight to move the pulleys. A seated dead hang is worthless.
