It clearly depends on where you live. Sure, in Europe/Asia, the butter golem movement never got traction in any way, but if you're in America you could not possibly avoid noticing fat women surging in all marketing and advertisements. The only actual argument is how much of it was deliberately subversive vs purely marketing towards the immense obese demographic. Anecdotally, I've had one friend of a friend's chubby girlfriend talk about how great a show was because of "diverse bodytypes", and my fat autistic buddy has mentioned how nice it is to see fat bodies represented in positive roles in media. Him and I had a great argument about how just because world class strongmen have higher bodyfat, that does not mean sedentary obese people are strong lmao
