>that guy that drops his deadlift
>he thinks he’s training for functional strength
i seriously hope this isn’t you
>>
Slow eccentric on deadlift can kill you
>>
>>77340515
If you're a woman maybe
>>
>>77340510
>have to move a heavy ass refrigerator into the house
>pick it up easily because i do deadlifts
>immediately drop and break it because I don't put it down and no one actually trains walking around with their deadlift
very functional indeed
>>
Some men dont want a big juicy butt. I dont get it.
>>
what's functional strength anyway?
>>
A faggot in my gym the other day was throwing the ez bar after doing fucking biceps, in front of his gf aswell. I regret not putting him in his place but i will find another chance i guess.
>>
>>77340556
Being able to control whatever weight you choose to lift
>>
>>77340566
Was he jacked? Was his gf hot?
>>
>>77340534
You will be using straps for that. Not lifting straps, but the straps for furniture. It will be more of a mini squat
>>
>>77340510
If bumperplates and if 1RM, then YES dropping a deadlift is fine.

If metal plates and if just doing a set or if bumperplates less than 50lbs total, then NO.
>>
>>77340510
Deadlifts are trash lol
>>
>>77340556
An elaborate cope for what you don't have good numbers.
>>
You save small amount of fatigue if you drop the bar after the last rep. Other than that, deadlift as movement is not the best movement for any goal except being able to deadlift. "Functionality", bodybuilding, targeting specific muscles etc deadlift is not the best for any of those and causes heavy fatigue and takes a lot to warm up to usually.

That said, I still do it once a week, for one set, because my lower back was in serious trouble 6 months ago and I had to relearn the whole deadlift. I started again from 1pl8 and had to focus and build back up, because I was in wounded animal state. So I guess the functional part is reaching some bare minimum.

>Slow eccentric on deadlift can kill you
The way down is a part of the lift too though lol

>>77340556
Being strong and athletic in general is functional. The fat cunts who can't do a single pull up but say they have functional strength are the ultimate copers.

it's all functional though. A big bench press and OHP will give you a stronger upper body in general, same goes for your rows, pull ups, dips and do an extent even curls and skullcrushers. Think: it's literally impossible to be benching 275 while being being weak. Everything gets bigger and stronger in the process of getting there. that is why I'm always the bro that gets a call when moving apartments and shit, everyone knows I can get that fridge down the stairs no problemo, same with the couch and TV stand. all these big lifts make you strong and robust

so all strength is functional really, it all has some practical use
>>
>>77341058
One part of the functionality is just learning a motor skill too so even if you are muscular already, you can pick up a strange movement and "make gains" because you find a new pattern or you use "stabilizer muscles" which means basically every muscle, big or small. Not disagreeing with you on anything, just saying.

Like there are people who can bench press whatever but when you put them on rings to do push ups they twitch like hell which doesn't necessarily mean weakness, just learning a skill.

yes but i strength mog him for sure, he is a little leaner tho and his gf won't stop staring at me most of the days when i look good especially that day

>>77341088
projecting
>>
>>77340566
not worth it bro find your own snizz of the pie
>>
>>77341441
Ok so you got brutally mogged, you’re fat, and now you’re coping and seething.
>>
>>77342071
So where the fuck did i mention i was fat? I'm around 15% bodyfat and he was like 13% but i facemog him. Being stronger than someone doesn't make you fat.
>>
>>77341007
post body

>>77341051
It probably causes less 'fatigue' to just do deadlifts than the 5 movements you do to replace it
Anyways deadlifts rock for building muscle, building functional strength, and for protecting your back, as you see yourself. Don't overthink it. It's a great exercise. Just do it.

I'm pretty sure these don't exist. The only example I've seen is Thor and that guy weighs 400+

>>77342413
>Being stronger than someone doesn't make you fat.
There are a bunch of weak "people" on here who basically see it this way
>>
>>77340549
This. I love big juicy butts too.
>>
>>77340566
Steal his bitch
>>
retards complain about people dropping bumpers (what they are designed for)

but saying nothing abut gym bros slamming dumbbells into the floor after their set (and they are baby weights too)
>>
>>77342500
i can't he has a mercedes and i drive a golf gti
>>
>>77342447
bruh I've seen plenty of anons here 300lbs+ claiming muh functional strength because they have a 4pl8 deadlift, which isn't even impressive at their size anyway
>>
>>77340556
Grip strength and core
>>
>>77342443
No thanks I like my lower back as it is. I will just curl for hamstrings, BB row for Erectors and use the foid machines for but.
>>
>>77342508
You dropping the weight just shows you can't handle the weight. Lowering the weight is part of the eccentric motion, and you skipping this just screams "I am a retarded ego lifter."
>>
>>77340556
Dyel cope. That's seriously all it is.

The basic lifts are already "functional." The squat is a basic human movement so doing it with 300lbs+ is more functional. Pulling something heavy off the ground is more functional than doing a one leg deadlift with a 40lb dumbbell. Everyone that argues about functional shit is the same 40 year old divorced dad with a sub 1pl8 bench.
>>
>>77343497
Case and point, look at this >>77341051
loser. 1pl8 deadlift and talking shit.
>>
>>77343497
Well you have to think about the reason why they say all that. It's cowardice. They're afraid of deadlifts and don't trust themselves to learn to do it correctly. So yeah not surprising they sound like weak wusses.
>>
>>77341051
Trap bar mogs deadlift 100%.
I had deadlifts to 200kg for reps and just felt they are taxing to my body wo real benefit.
Deadlifts should be imho done with bodyweight for reps. These insane weights everyone aims for will bring you nothing good.
>>
>>77343497
This but sub 3pl8 bench
>>
>>77344188
>200kg
You got taxed by intermediate weight deadlifts?
