Zercher squats are getting more popular in my gym. At first, only myself and an old timer were doing them. After talking with some regulars about what the fuck I was doing, more and more people started getting into them. Soon I will turn the whole gym into a shrine dedicated to Zercher Squats, the most functional, the most reasonable, the most needed lift™.

Remember, only those who are preparing for competitions and slaves whose role is carrying bricks for their master's pyramid have a legitimate reason to do standard squats. A man with free will Zerchers. You're not a pack animal, you're a man.

It's weird how StrongFirst forum members will simultaneously give rich details sourced from tombs of athletic research like Mel Siff's Supertraining, but then unquestionably follow Pavel. He's this skinnyfat boomer who pretends he trained Spetnaz when he was 14 and tells people to do zerchers, one-arm barbell overhead presses and possibly deadlifts with your teeth instead of just using the equipment correctly.

Then pronate your forearms and rest it on your brachoradials. Or wear sleeves. Or lift a sandbag or stone to spread the pressure over a wider surface area while still getting the benefit. The movement pattern is worth doing. If the implement is an issue then modify the parameters.

I genuinely have no idea why back squats became a thing in the first place. Zercher seems way easier and safer. Biggest problem with back squat is that you cannot safely fail on them.
