should I eat a piece of toast with some honey before my run tomorrow or do it fasted? it'll be as soon as I wake up. I haven't run in years. i'm scared. I don't want to feel lightheaded because I'm running on an empty stomach but I don't want to get stomach cramps and abdominal pain from eating, either, but I want to do this run. what do?

>>77342733dont hab eny.. only bread
>>77342733u think i should have something to eat tho? instead of being fasted??
>>77342718don't run when you first wake up, wait 30-60 minutes after waking to run, whether you eat some light carbs when you wake or not depends on your body handles it personallyI seem to function better fasted, other people need a bit of food 30 minutes before or so
>>77342718Like >>77342756 said, its very dependent on the person, I personally also work better fasted, that is how I got my best results and felt better, eating something will make me feel lethargic and heavy, regardless of what macros. There is nothing wrong in eating before as long as its not a huge meal, if it works better for you that's fine. If you are experimenting and havent done this in a while, I would try fasted. Eating something might make you want to vomit, or nauseous or something. If you do it more often you can experiment more.Good luck anon, proud of you getting out there, keep it up.
>>77342718depends on how fat u r
Why do people still run? The evidence that it’s always sub-optimal relative to incline walking and sprints is a mile wide and mile deep.
>>77343052Dont let the good be the enemy of the perfect
>>77342756Why wait 30-60 mins?
>>77342718>should i have carbs with my carbs before my catabolic goywalkvghodinn frowns vpon yov, slave
How long are you planning to run for anyways? If it's your first time running in years it shouldn't be longer than 15-20 minutes max. For me, unless it's a really long wrong, I strongly prefer running on an empty stomach
>>77343325so it has time to start digesting and actually provide you energy to usealso some people might cramp if you eat and run immediately
>>77343035I went fasteddrank about a litre of waterdid some dynamic warmup stretches for two minutes before getting a fast pace walking for about five minutesthen I just ran lolfelt pretty good but stopped after about two minutes, then repeated a pattern of walk two-three minutes, run one minuteby the end I felt really like I would have thrown up if there was any food in my tummy
should I have a rest day? or go for a run tomorrow morning too? if I don't run, I could probably walk, right? *should* I walk? *should* I run? or just rest... don't know ))):
>>77342718If you're doing it to get lean, don't run. Walk. Walking burns calories via fat oxidation at a lot higher ratio than running, especially while fasted. If you're doing it for cardio gains you should eat. Running requires blood sugar.

>>77345061>if you're doing it to get leannah, I’m tryan to get brain gains and better cardiovascular healthI’m already lean asf>If you're doing it for cardio gains you should eat. Running requires blood sugar. That’s true, but there is already some glucose or whatever stored in the muscles from what I ate the previous day, right? is that not enough for a 30-40 min run? it’s also just convenient. if I don’t eat beforehand I can do the run really early, otherwise I have to wait an hour or so for digestion…
having said that, I’d be willing to forego the convenience of having something to eat first is significantly better than fasting before a run.
>>77342718IDK much about running, but I think fast is better.
>>77346220>That’s true, but there is already some glucose or whatever stored in the muscles from what I ate the previous day, right? Not glucose, it's glycogen and it's depleted within 24 hours normally or 20 minutes of exercise. Probably not good to eat something but drinking something sugary like juice will get your blood sugar up within 15 minutes. I mean you could do it fasted but it puts a big debuff on your performance and you'll have a hard time getting to the level of pushing yourself you need for gains.
>>77346690>drinking something sugary like juice will get your blood sugar up within 15 minutes.bet, this sounds ideal. no upset tummy but no debuff either, as you say.
