im ok going to elite weightrooms and lifting peanuts weights, 0 insecurity or fear of looking like an idiot and taking up too much space. now i want to leanmaxx and have unexpectedly found i am kind of afraid of running outside, i dont really know how to do it. what if i run into someone. what have i become
>>
I get the feeling. Best thing I can say is that once you are running and feeling good (i.e. fluid movements, no stiffness, pain or difficulty breathing) you don't give as much of a fuck if people see you. So just take a walk until you are in a more or less empty part of wherever you can run and then start to run. If you feel extra awkward, get a dog from someone you know to take on a walk and only run intermittently when the dog isn't busy taking a dump on the sidewalk. If dog turds are illegal where you live, you have extra incentive to start running away, too.

I used to go out at 3 am and run up and down a 50 meter stretch of park

I was autistic and gay.

You have nothing to fear

imagine if you're confronted by the neighbor saying you keep triggering their ring doorbells at 3AM

Strangers used to say hi or nod their head when I jog past. post covid people just keep to themselves now, looking straight ahead and not at me when they walk past. Often times they even cross the street before I get there. I don't know if it was covid that did it but the sense of community has diminished over the past 5 years

Starting on concrete can be hard on your joints anyway. Make the investment to start off on grass for a month or two before transitioning to concrete. You’ll see fewer people and you’re less likely to run straight into shin splints.

If you're gonna start on grass go barefoot

In the gym you are in the same space with people for the whole duration you are there whereas running outdoors you only are seen for maybe 5 seconds.

Buy a handgun and a holster, learn to shoot, get an LTC if you need one in your state, start carrying it. This is the method.
