The worst advice I see given to newbies is that they have to “push themselves.”

>Bro, you gotta bust through mental barriers bro
>You gotta lift until you want to vomit bro
>You gotta add 20 pounds to your lifts every week bro
>Leg day should hurt more than an adult circumcision bro
>Just imagine your ex-girlfriend putting a big, brown cock in her butthole, bro
>No, I’m not a cuck
I don’t understand this mentality. I’ve literally never trained to complete failure and never pushed myself excruciatingly hard, and I’m in great shape.
It took years to get here, but it takes years anyways. Fitness should be 3-5 days a week, every week, until the day you die.

I do my lifts until I run out of energy to maintain proper form. I run 2-3 miles at a moderate pace. I still got faster and stronger and leaner rapidly even without “Goggins Mentality.”

Maybe if I lifted to vomit mode every time, I would have progressed like 2-3 months faster. Who cares? Even if you’re fat as shit, you don’t need to subject yourself to fatty torture to improve. Just go walk a mile and then lift the smallest dumbbells on the rack.
I know niggas that started off benching the empty bar that bench 2.5 pl8s for reps now.

1% better every day for a year is a 3,678% improvement.
>>
It’s all relative and for newbies it just means to push yourself and concentrate on what you’re doing instead of just coasting which in practice means that until your form starts to give.

Post body w/timestamp. OP is a retarded faggot. The two biggest reasons people don't see gains is shit diet, program, recovery, etc., and/or lacking intensity. Intensity/effort/pain are so subjective & fact is most people are pussies.

There is no physical activity that is worth vomiting for. Every time you vomit you risk dying from either a heart attack or the even worse and even more gruesom Boerhaave Syndrome which will make you vomit blood over and over until you die in a matter of minutes. I cannot imagine a more gruesome and disgusting death and I genuinely pray to God that when he takes me, it will not be like that. Nothing is worth it.

For a few months when i first started going to the gym i used to fight le demons at the gym and larp as doom guy and duke nukem to motivate myself. When i built the habit i realised it was fun and it felt good to do it. My explanation is that most beginers had some kind of shock or trauma that made them walk into a gym, for me was realising i was so fucking fat i couldnt see my dick. I was angry at everything, but specially at myself. Rage is a powerful motivator.

this board is so predictable. all of you think you have found the one true way to train, yet after years of training you all look worse than physiques who get tagged as "early intermediate"
>>
Yeah, you gotta be careful with that overtraining.
Be sure to recover well.

I don't go to this board but reading the threads here I think you're basically macho trannies.
You really sound a lot like trannies, but instead of becoming girls you want to become men (which you don't feel you are). Interesting

>>77345306
I agree. I've been fat my whole life and have tried and failed to lose weight countless times in the past. For the first time in my life I'm actually making real progress and I'm not even trying that hard.

What I realized is that is that actually doing *something* consistently is far more important than doing things "optimally". I'm honestly half-assing my diet but I've managed to keep it up for 9 months where as I've never made it more than a few weeks in the past. I'm still far from my goal weight but I'm at least in a better position now than I was 9 months ago.

Today, I tried on some old clothes that were too tight before and now they actually fit and some of them are even too loose now. I know it sounds like such a small thing but I've literally never experienced that before. There have been so many times in the past when I've bought clothes that were a bit tight and convinced myself not to return them because I planned on losing weight only to end getting even fatter. This is the first time in my entire life that I've had the experience of my old clothes getting looser instead of tighter.

If any of you are lifelong fatties like me I recommend just starting now and not worrying about being optimal. Build consistency first, optimize later. Even half-assing your diet is better than not dieting at all.

I'm sure I'll have to optimize eventually if I want a truly great physique but at least I'm slightly less of a fatass now than I was before and that's more progress than I've ever managed to make before.
>>
>>77348380
consistency is probably the most important factor when it comes to basically any long term goal, but if you don't do things optimally you'll probably end up in a plateau eventually and you might never get out of it unless you improve your approach.

Noob opinion. Natties don’t plateau until they already mog 99% of Americans. It’s useless to talk about plateaus with someone that’s overweight and weak. They can worry about that once they’re repping 2.5 pl8s on bench.

You niggas talk like you’ll plateau while looking like Jonah Hill from Wardogs. More likely you’ll plateau looking like Tom Holland in Spider-Man, and that’s if you have shit genetics.

I lift the weight until I can't lift it anymore

agree ,that's my advise too for running

don't push yourself ,go at easy pace for 1 hour (it doesn't matter if you're slow) and when you'll start liking running you could actually try to push yourself or not.

All of the "requirements" for the man in your image are really prerequisites to have a satisfying life. Whoever said having it all worked out and having women naturally orbit around you is exactly how it should be, you want to look good for yourself first after all. >also if you only care about looking like tom holland and then staying that way you can get away with less training in the maintenance phase if you do things efficiently
Lol, most men will only ever dream of looking like Tom Holland.

This is the natty goal until you reach it. Once you reach, you can aspire to things like Zyzz.

Which, once again, this “I have to train perfectly so I can look like Zyzz within 3 years of training” is the wrong mentality. You should aim to slowly approach Tom Holland’s physique and then augment your goals once you actually get there.

But for someone weak and overweight, it might take 2 years to get here. Who cares? You have 80 years to get /fit/.
>>
>>77345306
Because those people who want to go to the gym don't identify themselves as gym-goers so they use "motivation" as a crutch until they're actually gym-goers. The easier path would be to just switch your identity
>>
>>77348881
I don't disagree with you anon, I simply wanted to point out that despite being very important consistency isn't all there is to it since a lot of people are puzzled by the fact that they completely stop improving after a while (and if they are retarded enough the level they'll stop at might be worse than what you'd expect)
>But for someone weak and overweight, it might take 2 years to get here. Who cares? You have 80 years to get /fit/.
I just started learning the piano without lessons with this exact mentality, even if it'll take me ten years just to become decent at it I'll still get decades of having fun playing an instrument at an acceptable level, so my aim is just to take it easy and enjoy the process

Same here. I just tried on a pair of jeans that were already a bit tight when I first bought them and were way too tight a year ago and now they fit perfectly. Feelsgoodman.jpeg

This is the gayest advice I’ve ever seen anybody give. In life, how you do ANYTHING is how you do EVERYTHING. If you’re doing something, put forth effort in the task at hand. Simply putting a modicum of effort into whatever it is you’re doing puts you ahead of the majority of other people around you, so it’s good to get in the habit of not half assing things and the gym is a good place to develop good habits like this that translate to other non-lifting aspects of your life.

You should post body.
>just threw up in the gym parking lot after leg day
>due to lumbar herniations I’ve not been able to properly train my legs
>finally figured out how to work around the issue, and finally making gains
I fucking love throwing up after the gym. It means I put in as much effort as I could, absolutely nothing left in the tank

This is all counterproductive to health and muscle growth. You’re not progressing faster than the next guy because you vomit more.

This is just autosadism. You feel better and more productive when you punish yourself because you think you deserve it.

This is way too true your identity that you larp as becomes you ...no it is "you" and I'll tell you why: because we are the gap.

We are the gap we are an ever changing identity. For example what happens when God tries to change his identity? Well god ceases to exist. Now what happens when you change your identity? We are the gap that words cannot fully capture, we are the limits of language itself and what that means is that you can wake up one day and say "I'm a gay retard" and u can just be that way. When u lose your identity what happens? Well u have to engage too directly with the pointlessness of reality.

How can I prove we are the gap between language and reality? Well .. if you notice something here: you will never be satisfied in totality, just like clavicular changing his nose there will always be that "one last thing" and that "one last thing" is the gap itself that is insurmountable. So perfection is when you look at a girl and you say "she would be perfect if she just had this one last thing" that's the literal gap of language, language can never fully capture or describe anything. This is extremely deep I doubt many will understand this esoteric knowledge

Completely true. Gym bros have skewed standards compared to the general population. IRL, guys who would get called ottermode here are considered ripped chads. Most people don't try at all or if they do try they give up after a few weeks. If you try even a little bit and manage to keep it up long term you'll be ahead of most people even if you never reach your theoretical maximum potential.

Of course I am. It means I took my body to the absolute point of exhaustion. Next week I will be able to do more. This is how your body adapts and how gains are made.

Besides, I absolutely love the HIGH afterward. Absolutely drenched in sweat, almost floating. Not that you’d know because you’re DYEL and you don’t even break a sweat.

Getting big by /fit/ standards is a fool’s errand. This place is full of body dysmorphic trannies that call Tom Hardy in the Dark Knight Rises “skinnyfat.”

They’ll call Tom Holland a twink DYEL when he’s a strong, fit, lean man who can run 3mi in under 20min. AKA all things that matter for actual health (above average muscle mass, low bodyfat percentage, great cardiovascular health). Coincidentally, this is also what women find most attractive, not Prime Ronnie Coleman.
