All the employees at my gym recognize me by now since I come in basically every day even on weekends and smile at me but I can’t tell if it’s a smirk sort of smile where they think I’m a loser gymcel and maybe I’ve become a running joke among them. Do I need to find a new gym?
>>77347123get an anxiety med prescription and look down when you walk around
>>77347123They're just being friendly, retard.
>>77347123Youre being neurotic
>>77347138>>77347130>>77347139What if I actually spend 3-4 hours at the gym per day because I use the gym WiFi and rest area to send job applications, emails, and do some school work?
>>77347686Does that change your answers, I forgot to add
>>77347688I'm none of these anons, but no, it does not. You're fine brother, it's all in your head. Goodness man.
>>77347123*peanuts soundtrack starts playing*
>>77347686the only thing that matters is if it's allowed. if it is then do whatever you want, there are people who spend their day on the gym floor and hit like 2 sets, so you're atleast doing something productive lol
well are you there for more than 3 hours a day?
>>77347686OH MY GOD WHAT A LOSER AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHNigger, this is extremely common in any university setting. Why would it be unheard of in non-uni gyms? Get fucking real.
>>77347123I think they all recognize me too and not in a good way because I am always half drunk.
They don't care. Every service job has regulars and all you really do as a worker is acknowledge to yourself that they exist and move on. The only exception is if they piss you off for doing doing something that makes their job harder, then yeah they hate you
>>77347686You pay to be there.
>>77347123There are so many questions to ask.Have you never heard of familiarity? Why do you assume you might be a joke to those people? If you were, why would that bother you? You're gonna change your gym because an 18 year old intern who'se gonna be gone in a few months doesn't like you?Stop masturbating
>>77347123try nutting on your belly and powersliding on it in the showers with one fist in the air when one of the braindead employees stumbles into the changing room and your hero status will be secured amongst them
Most people are OK. Clearly some aren’t but one of the biggest mental steps you can take is appreciating that most people aren’t out to get you and are just going about their business There are exceptions to this but for the most part they’re just happy to see customers come back regularly and I say that as a small business owner myself
>>77347123What I find is, that everywhere where I'm a regular the employees also give me special treatment. Like it's almost to the point where it feels weird that they act like we're friends but that's a normal thing. So you've probably just built up a level of familiarity and trust that leads them to treat you a little nicer than they do others.
>>77347123you should find out, OP. Just walk up to them and ask "do you guys hate me? why do you smile at me when I walk in" make sure you fiddle with your hands a lot when you do it, looking like a fidgety retard helps with looking approachableIn all seriousness they don't give a fuck, you're a familiar face and the smile just means "welcome back" except they don't have to waste the breath saying it out loud
>>77347123>Caring about what other people think NGMIAlso, they dgafYou're a face they know and people like people they know
>>77347686other insignificant passerby people thinking of you as a loser doesn't matter, it only hurts because there is someone thinks of you as a loser every daythat person is youtheir insults hurt you because you allow it to, because you already think that of yourself
>>77347123If it were me I'd smile fondly. Maybe we'd tease a little bit in the break-room about the autist who is always there, but honestly it would be very harmless and mostly endearing.People love having constants in their life. You being there daily for hours is an anchor. Once you stop showing up, they will notice, and they will not care THAT much, but it'll impact them negatively in some small way.
