>Who is /fat/ for?
For flabby footballers who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

Not to be sensationalist but thats addiction behaviours. It happens because when you are alone your brain starts to tell you that you can get away with your behaviours without anyone knowing, which feels like you are getting a free pass to fall off the wagon.

When I was an alcoholic I used to be able to keep a lid on it when living with my parents but the second they went on a holiday or something I ended up drinking myself silly from the second they left, because my brain instinctively knew that my shameful behaviour that I was trying to keep in control could be indulged in without consequence.. well thats what my brain thinks

In reality it doesnt matter whether someone sees me doing it or not, its still damaging. but just the thought of nobody being able to perceive you failing is a strong enough drive to make you do it.

The good news is I no longer do this. It took a lot of time to get myself out of the habit but its gone now. You have to learn to overcome this impulsive brain drive that just because nobody sees your shameful behaviour, that its still shameful. Well, shame is a bad emotion to have, but thats how you see it
>>
>>77352513
yeah I guess I know this more or less, it's just so annoying. like I can do multi day fasts easily if they're at home, but the house was empty for a couple days and I went through like a week's worth of calories. worst part is that I can leave all of the "actual" addicting stuff (cigs, booze etc) cold turkey anytime I want, but the food demon keeps raping me

Should i do less lifting if i can't hit my daily protein reliably? right now i can only hit around like 70-100g per day average maybe, sometimes as low as 50g
On one side i heard that you should lift regardless because it tells your body that you still use it, on the other i heard that if you overshoot it you'll break down muscle way faster because it's being teared without anything to repair it, so what's the middle ground?

I ask this last time but response just anti-Indian racism. My neighbor recommend stretching and Holy Gomutra 5x a day and eating lots of rice and lentils to lose weight? Does anyone have experience with this? Does it work as well as they say?
>>
>>77353138
you can just drink your own pee, you do not need gomutra.

In the morning bring a glass with you to the bathroom, then start to pee and after a moment catch the stream in your cup and drink it. The first bit of the stream is excess minerals your body is getting rid of, so you don't need them. This is a popular way to start the day for many people who enjoy the fresh taste of urine in the morning. You can search for urine therapy and pee drinking to join the community if you're horny about your urises.

For eating, you should eat a restricted amount of lentils and rice. You have a daily total amount of calories to maintain your weight, and you need to eat less than this amount to lose weight. So, if you need 1800 calories to stay the same weight then you need 1300 calories of rice and lentils to lose 1 pound of weight per week.

It's not much but a year ago I couldn't come close to doing a single one and I felt like I was going to die just from dead-hanging on the bar. My arms still look like wet noodles so I'm guessing the "gains" are mostly from having to pull up less weight, rather than building muscle.

>If you don't make any changes to the lifestyle that got you fat in the first place then you're going to gain the weight back.

It's not a videogame, you have to change the way you live. Replace sitting at the computer with a bike ride or a hike twice a week. Get a new job where you're more active or ask for a role change.

I would go crazy weighing in daily like some do. I weigh in at the closest every 2 weeks

I want to see some big changes before weigh myself and seeing numbers go up would disappoint me from fluctuations.

As long as I train as I should, eat the macros I should and rest the weight will keep going where I want. All math

Looking in the mirror, weight scales and thinking of the future or past is what fucks with my head the most. When I can put my head down and work is when it goes best.

I do weigh all my food though and count macros for some reason that does not negatively impact me I just see it as getting me closer to where I want to be

However when I focus on results which is based on my genetics, hormones or abilities I feel worse. Better off focusing on the step by step process making sure I do things right and the results are simply a symptom of what I do (the scale weight or how I look in the mirror)

The muscles also have no idea how .much weight I am using to lift. All they can feel is tension which can become more or less in engaging the muscle by mind muscle connection, negatives
and form I use so there is no use in me trying to hit high numbers. I am not strong anyway the progression will come over time

Keep grinding niggas. You deserve to look good and be healthy. No one is better than you

There's no such thing as 'set point'. Its just the words people use to describe "the weight I end up at when I eat 'normally'". Overweight people tend to return to a past weight because they eat like they used to eat and stop watching the calories, not because they're somehow drawn to a 'set point' of weight.

Excellent mindset what u are avoiding is the insane trap of "I want it right now" when you want to close the gap between your goal and you immediately without taking it step by step and enjoying the process. When you want it "right now!" You instantly activate neurosis because three things happen: 1. you want a guarantee of an outcome which doesn't exist in real life.
2. You enter into the tension between enjoying the fantasy of your goal in your head by imagining the ideal outcome and the pain of reality never reflecting that in totality so the closer you get to said goal the more painful it becomes because a lack of a gurantee and the collapse of the enjoyment of thinking about the ideal scenario as reality butts in can be too much to bare. In other words the fantasy of the thing you are enjoying thinking you are or will be has to meet reality and that comes with the risk that it won't be validated. For 4channers who are highly neurotic that is unbearable so instead of taking a leap which is the key to life. You search for a guarantee, instead of asking the girl out you do nofap. Instead of trying to talk to a girl and try out new strategies you spend a year in the gym and looksmax. These are attempts at a gurantee but since a guarantee cannot exist in real life and it's a fantasy you will endlessly circle endless neurosis. That's why when u start making progress in something you get scared because now it's real now ur fantasy will get closer to having to contest with reality. We enjoy the desire to get the object itself not the object. Receiving the object only makes the fantasy about the object collapses. That's why kids get bored immediately with a toy they just got. They got the thing so the enjoyment of picturing the thing in your mind is gone. That's why women behave in ways where ur like "why can't they just be straight forward" because when you fully have something your enjoyment of the fantasy of what it could be collapses.
>>
>>77353417
Part 2. That's why flirting is all about the things left unfinished there should always be room for interpretation thats why vulgarity collapses enjoyment, if I say to a girl "let's fuck we both are attractive" a male would be like why the hell wouldn't we do that it's logical and makes sense. But enjoyment collapses immediately.

If you say "wanna come over and watch netflix" the ambiguity leaves room for enjoyment. This is obviously a crude example but you understand what im saying.
>>
>>77353429
Try it, try to want something you already have and see how it feels. Now try to want something you don't have like a console or a game try to juxtapose those feelings with a game u wanted at the time more then life itself but now own. Examine that. You will find you gain far more enjoyment from the desire itself rather then having the product. Why do we enjoy long grinds? Same reason you have time to enjoy the desire itself and fantasize about the outcome.

Took out a few shirts that I bought months or years ago from some outlet stores but forgot about them until recently. A few of them still had the original packaging and tags on them. I feel like I actually look pretty good compared to when I was 40 lbs heavier, some of these henleys and knit tees look very good with my arms and shoulders and smaller waist now. I think the diet and workout routine has been working well. WAGMI
>>77353379
Living alone and having unlimited access to food is good if you play your cards right. I was able to streamline and volumize my diet by keeping mostly whole foods on deck and keeping a bunch of healthy meals prepped and available. It just takes discipline and telling yourself no to eating out for a few weeks, eventually it won't feel like a burden on your psyche
>>77353268
The daily weighing helps me stay honest and keeps me mindful of all future activity for the day. That being said, 2 weeks should be more than enough to see that scale weight loss assuming things go well (and it sounds like it does based on how you're keeping track of your food). Different ways of doing it, wagmi though
>>77353203
Its essential for hormonal function in both genders. That being said, most regular men can get away with 40g per day. Fatty foods tend to be calorically dense but they are also good for satiety (assuming they're not too processed) so it is a balance. I'm closer to my goal weight and want my diet to be as friction-less as possible so I keep a pretty good amount of fats in my diet
>>
I am currently 23, 6'2 and Super Sedentary (2000-4000 steps)(7000+ If I go to Walmart).

On May 21, I was 303lbs and have been losing weight at a begrudgingly acceptable rate.

However, for the past week I have been stuck between 274.4lbs & 274.8lbs.

I mostly only eat between 2:30pm & 6:30pm and My daily diet is terrible right now (because I have access to a meal plan and I don't want to spend more money nor waste what I already spent) :

~ 2 Cups Of Black Coffee [?Cal]
~ 2 Cups Of Green Tea [5Cal]
~ 1 Alani Juicy Peach Energy Drink[10Cal]
~ 1 Bag Of Sunchips (Garden Salsa) [330Cal]
~ 1 Pepperoni Pizza Hot Pocket [290Cal]
~ 1 Lean Cuisine Spaghetti With Meat Sauce [310Cal] + 1 Table Spoon Of Parmasean Cheese [10Cal]
~ 1 Joseph's Pita Bread [60Cal]

However, I feel the poor quality goyslop should not detract from the deficit itself.

Do I need to do a full 72-Hour fast to get past this hurdle or do I need to commit to 10K steps a day to get my metabolism going again?

Also, I need walking pad recommendations because while I know walking is good for me, I don't want to be tired and out of breath and still lament the fact I have to walk back to my room.
>>
>>77353490
your deficit is too big relative to your height and weight. ~6 lbs per week is very fast, even starting from 300 lbs. it's quite possible that your metabolism has slowed to account for the very limited food you're providing your body. i would recommend using the tdee calculator in the op to find what daily calorie budget would let you lose 2.5-3 lbs per week (~1% bodyweight) and stick with that. you may continue to stall out a little bit longer as glycogen stores/"water weight" replenishes but weight loss should be more steady and consistent after that.
fasting won't help, but extra exercise certainly won't hurt if you're willing and able. you are correct that the food being all goyslop doesn't really have anything to do with the success or failure of weight loss.

No. There are some research papers that say fasted walking (like right after you wake up in the morning) will hit visceral (belly) fat slightly more than subcutaneous fat because it has better blood flow.
>>
>>77354166
Yeah but that slightly more is like 5% and walking burns so little calories that you'd have to do it for hours.
>>
>>77354120
Could be micronutrient deficiency maybe? Have you been super low fat dieting for a long time? There are essential fats you need. Maybe check your vitamin/mineral/electrolyte intake as well...
>>
>>77354168
If you want to get more esoteric, technically visceral fat has fewer insulin receptors than subcutaneous fat, which you might be able to exploit. For example, instead of fasted walking take a whey protein shake just before starting. That will jack up your insulin for a few hours. This should inhibit subcutaneous fat release much more than visceral fat release. That way all the calories you burn would be from visceral fat. I haven't seen any studies done, so if you try the experiment report back here.

How do I hate food?
>>
>>77354178
you need to not hate nor love food
you need to get back to neutrality
eat your designated meal, enjoy it then move on
it shouldn't be an overly emotional thing you lean on or spurn

i think you're ok; i remember you posting your spreadsheets and you eat something like slightly under 2000 calories per day, right? i advised the other guy to eat a little more because he's eating like 1000 calories per day which is just awfully low in itself and at his stature i imagine is leaving him tired enough that he's getting effects like reduced spontaneous movement and a slightly reduced bmr. even though your deficit is big too, your calorie counts/weekly rate of loss don't read as problematic to me and i think your slow weeks aren't really anything to be read too deeply into. would probably help to throw in a "refeed" kind of day here or there if your deficit does make you feel super low energy.
should also clarify that i'm not saying that guy will never lose weight again even if he continues to eat 1000 calories and i don't think a "starvation mode" that would put a hard halt to his weight loss exists, i just think this slowdown may be explained by his excessively huge deficit.
on the topic of "starvation mode" anecdotally i'll add some of my own data. because i am a loser i live in a way that i don't always have access to food and sometimes end up legitimately kind of starving unintentionally (~500 calories per day) and the rapid weight loss is always followed by a stall from hell despite continuing a deficit corresponding with a ~1.5 lb per week loss. i figure due to glycogen replenishing and reduced movement.

>>77354182
Yeah I'm typically a little under 2000 a day, sometimes a bit lower if what I ate that day was more filling.
>>77354171
I've been good about my proteins and fats, my carbs have been pretty low, maybe I'm slacking on some vitamins and minerals.

I will be sleeping soon. If I wake up and weigh myself and I'm still in the range I've stalled in, I am raping everyone in this thread.

Why isn't aspartame chocolate a thing. I'd eat that shit all day
>>
>>77354238
You're just going to crave more food after. You need to get over that hump and get your body used to eating boring routine shit so that the cravings go away.
>>
>>77354258
How long until the cravings go away? I can't go for more than 1 or 2 days before giving in

buy unsweetened chocolate
melt it
add sweetener
temper it back into chocolate

tempering can be a bitch if you don't have a good thermometer, it'll still taste fine even if you fuck up the temper

I use monkfruit instead of aspartame, I'm sure they all work.

Its good! But be warned its probably mostly just water.
Weightloss ≠ Fat Loss, and water can fluctuate by as much as 5kg over a week with zero fat gain/loss in a 90kg male.
