Is being strong actually useful in boxing? Besides pick related almost all boxing/kickboxing professionals are dyel.
SHUT UPPPPPPPP ABOUT MARTIAL ARTS CRAP IF YOU'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT IT SERIOUSLY FUCKKKKKKKKKKK YOU PEOPLE ARE SUCH LOSERS FUCKKKK
>>77361515no. boxing is about cardio and reflexes so if you are putting on muscle you are hurting yourself. its a fake sport, more about collecting arbitrary points than physically defeating someone in a fight
>>77361515It helps to be fit and explosive, and explosiveness generally requires resistance training. So yes, it is is beneficial, especially in fight sports that use more brute force, like wrestling.>>77361551Ah right, explains why 5'10" 215lbs Mike Tyson, covered in muscle and with a 20" neck managed to KO most of his bigger opponents.
>Besides pick related almost all boxing/kickboxing professionals are dyel.
>>77361515Yes. Having one punch knock out power is all that matters.
Based jan
>>77361515one of my friends was equally strong but I could punch at least twice as hard. it's mostly genetics and coordination.
>>77361515Being fast is more important since striking force is just speed x mass. Muscles help that but past a certain point it's diminishing returns.

>>77361515Most don't weigh enough to show off muscle.GGG was around 160lbs and Pacquio was under 150lbs
I mean Tyson was pretty fucking jacked. But overall punching power is more about speed, explosivity and motor unit recruitment than pure strenght. Power also only gets you so far as well and is only one part of it. You need things like cardio, reflexes, timing, accuracy and durability (chin) as well. So fighters barely put any effort in building muscles and pure strenght.t. former boxer and MMA-fighter who trained, competed and coached for about 14 years.

>>77361515the question is actually will the time taken to incease strength be more beneficial than other sports related areas that i could work on instead? the answer is talk to your coach. from memory, olympic level wrestlers typically spend around 8 weeks of every training year using free weights. the rest of their strength developement comes from technical practice.
>>77365447so was hollyfield. actually most heavyweights from that period were big guys.
>>77361515No they aren't. Who? Tyson Fury? He has tons of muscle he just isn't lean. Wilder? Joshua? They're jacked.Of course being strong makes you punch harder. >>77361554Martial artists are so into the idea that their skills can allow them to beat anyone that they keep talking themselves into ridiculous ideas like 'putting on muscle is hurting yourself.' It's this gay purist thing where yeah you can do pushups, but you better not do bench press!Just superstitious caveman level thinking.
