Is this shit worth on pullups or is this a waste of time? I bulked up a bit too much and I can only do max 7 pullups now.

Is it worth trying to do 1 pull up every 30 seconds with maximum explosiveness? Or maybe 2 pull ups with 1 min rest for 10-20 sets? It helps with my form because otherwise it breaks down after 4-5 pull ups.

This way, I would get much more volume than my usual half-assed pullups.

Do only clean pullups, dont do sets to failure, stop early enough to keep good form. Try working your way up to doing 10 sets of 5, with 1-5 minute rests.

>dont do sets to failure
That makes sense because in the end it is grease the groove. BUT, everyone says you should train to failure on everything. How does it work that suddenly I shouldn't do it on pull ups?

Isn't grease the groove more about getting volume in by doing something sporadically throughout the day? I went from 2 wide pull-ups to 12 in like 2 weeks just by doing a couple (way less than failure) reps every time I had to walk past my bar, without worrying about rest times or anything.
You're probably better off treating them like any other exercise but if you have really bad issues keeping your form stable, I can assure you that greasing the groove even through entirely sporadic exercise does work provided you get enough volume in throughout the day.

If I looked like that I wouldn't think about exercise ever again

I do grease the groove with my ring workouts, I'm trying to get into ring planche and it's a hell of a job, but doing it everyday took me from just being able to do support hold to advanced tuck planche in more or less 4 months.

This. Going to failure and short rest periods just teaches you shitty form. Get in a lot of volume with perfect form - fast, crisp singles or doubles with full stretch at bottom and bar to clavicle. Dont train yourself to do shit reps; train ypurelf to do lots of good reps.

Eventually, you can do multiple sets of perfect triples or 4s or 5s or whatever. Idiots treat chins/pullups like the military. You should treat them like an athlete.

it works just takes time

It works. When I was 18 (18 years ago) I put a bar in my doorway and made sure to do 5-10 sets of 5 a day. I was able to do 10. Eventually I worked up to keeping a dip belt in my doorway and got up to a 24kg kettlebell on the belt. Within 6 months I tested and got 22 pull ups and was able to do a single with an added 120 lbs on the belt

Try the Hepburn method

Why the fuck would you half-ass your training for 2 months if you can easily fit 8 full sets per week to failure and progress 5 kg faster?
>>
>>77367579
Not him, but the 3x8 down sets add some volume. There was a guy who tripped here years ago called garagebro who got strong as fuck on it. Basically you progress faster than the weight moves for a while so it gives you a long runway of consistent size and strength gains before stalling

*there are supposed to be 3x8 down sets that are not listed. Iirc they’re 80% of the heavier working weight
