I’m currently doing 3 sets of 13 reps of goblet squats with an 80lb kettle bell.I know>Le high rep memeBut I prefer it.But I’m getting fairly close to outgrowing goblet squats. I have a 120lb kettle bell, and the current goal is to be able to do all my sets and reps with the 120lber. Once I reach that, I think I may have to move on from goblet squats. I’m also very overweight (and losing weight), so as my weight goes down, goblet squats get easier since my torso is lighter.Should I give up on goblet squats once I hit my goals or buy an even bigger kettle bell?
>>77390497Double front rack kettlebell squats are usually the progression. Get two adjustables (most go to 32kg, one brand goes to 40kg) and do your progression.
>>77390510Interesting. I’ve never thought of this. Would you say that it’s not necessary to ever do traditional barbell squats?
>>77390532Barbell squats allow you to progress rapidly in weight which is good for strength and mass gains. If you don't care about that and want general fitness then you can do kettlebell front squats. With the aforementioned adjustables you'd get up to 2×40kg, which you'd do for volume and you'd be generally healthy although you wouldn't be winning any powerlifting meets. In the real world almost every weight is cleaned to some sort of anteriorly loaded position so it tracks with things like home improvement or sports.
>>77390553I don’t do anything competitively, powerlifting nor bodybuilding.I also don’t really care about doing anything rapidly. I’ve just accepted that I will be lifting 4-5 days a week and running once a week until God finally frees me from this nightmarish existence.
>>77390567yeah double kettlebell work with adjustables will be perfect for you. Look at Dan Johns programs.
>>77390732>dan johnSick of this fraud.I did his stuff for the past year and made no progress.Do the opposite of what he says if you want gains.
>>77390732>>77392372Okay fine. Run a Mark Wildman program then. I have no ego in this.
>>77392515An even bigger fraud LOL
>>77392551Kettlebells are not for you
>>77390532Barbell squats are vastly superior to anything you can do with kettlebells.
>>77390497you can switch to zercher squats or front squats if you outgrow the kettlebells.
>>77390532It is never necessary to do barbell squatsThere's nothing magic about a barbellDouble front squats is a great liftAnaconda strength and all that
>>77390497For me, it's ATG split squats.Barbells are still the core of my routine, but ATG split squats are great for mobility and you don't need much weight with them.
>>77390497My first day in the gym as a 150lb dyel when I squatted 135lb for 5.
>>77392656You're aware you can front squat with a barbell right?
>recommending dan john>recommending marky mark wildmanThe absolute state of this board
>>77392905This and the "calisthenics" thread (it's just non-lifters calling anonymous strangers fat) convinces me that nobody here lifts. The activity is also dead as fuck, with shitty threads staying up for weeks. It's literally just looksmaxxer streamer fans.
>>77392735Yes, but it's not necessary
>>77390497
Im at 55lb goblet squat :^)
>>77390497>I just finished doing that Just get a bigger kettlebell, it recruits more accessory stabilizer muscles and activates the core more efficiently. Like, obviously vary it up with different forms but you’re going to get the most mileage out of kettlebell, it’s the best or calisthenics and strength conditioning imho, and lower chance of injury.
never done em. not worth doing when there are other lifts that have a better outcome
>>77390497Do lunges then bulgarian squats or yeah you can just buy a bigger ball.
>>77390497>gets easier as I lose weightYou are young but time will teach you otherwise.
Not OP, I'm a beginner at lifting now comfortable with two 30lbs kettlebells I got as a gift. I guess 30lbs is a non-standard weight and most beginners start with 16kg (35lbs), then the next step after that is 20kg (44lbs). If I'm good with 30lbs is 20kg okay to go to, or should I get 16kgs? Main concern is money and storage space. Thank you.
>>77396597I just found a 40lb too I don't know if that's a better progression.
