Thoughts on fish oil supplements?
>>
>>77391102
If you were to only take just 1 supplement, this would be it. Just make sure you get the big 1000mg ones with EPA and DHA.
>>
I have no thoughts on this matter
>>
>>77391141
I found one that's 1000mg with 180 EPA and 120 DHA, is that good?
>>
>>77391102
What does it do
>>
>>77391102
i've been taking it for years. i don't know if it makes a difference but i hope so
>>77391141
i'm taking 2000mg ones, 660epa and 440dha + vitamin E
it doesn't make me feeel different or anything but hopefully it helps long term
>>
>>77391141
i'm a clanker, i drink motor oil
>>
>>77391146
Nah that's too low, try to find one that has at least 300mg of each
>>
>>77391102
2 every day. Plus basic bitch multi vitamin plus low dose buffered asprin.
>>
>>77391102
Erm...Just eat tuna?
>>
>>77391279
Ewwwww no
>>
>>77391279
Don't wanna eat tuna all the time.
>>
>>77391141
This is incorrect. The size of the pill or the amount of the fish oil is irrelevant. What you want is a high amount of EPA and DHA per capsule or soft gel. If you need to take more than one that's perfectly fine. But 1,000 milligram pill doesn't ensure you're getting the maximum benefit, as evidenced by >>77391146

>>77391279
Do basic research before posting
>>
>>77391102
Fish oil should be put into the water supply, just like creatine
>>
>>77391102
Do this instead
>>
What brands do you guys take? Nordic naturals seems a bit pricey to me for fish oil
>>
I'm on a very low calorie diet and am getting zero fat in my diet so I've been taking 4000mg worth of fish oil capsules per day which according to the label is giving me 2140mg of EPA and 1072mg of DHA.

>>77391102
Unnecessary
>>
imma try to eat 5 wild salmon fillets (7 europesos) every 2 weeks, just go full bodybuilderchicken on those bad boys and steam them once, freeze the other 4, since I'm in a very shit living situation
>>
>>77391102
Follow lyel McDonald's protocol for this shit it helps your joints a lot not to mention brain benefits but it has to be at the right dose
>>
>>77392107
You don't eat fruit or vegetables?
>>
>>77391102
Never noticed a difference on or off it so I assume it's a scam.
>>
>>77391147
The cells in your body have membranes made of fat. You can either have slippery smooth cells or crispy potato chip cells. Also your brain is made up of cells.
>>
>>77391102
I just take the 1g EPA-only variant from Carlson since EPA lowers triglycerides and DHA is potentially damaging.
>>
>>77391102
I just took it for the first time in months but I am a sardine and raw liver heart guy
>>
>>77391102
i remember biting into one of these capsules on accident last week and fucking hell it was like i was drinking a tin of sardine juice
>>
>>77391147
Oil your fishes up. Keeps them extra slippery
>>
I think they gave me panic attacks that basically fucked up the last quarter of last year for me. I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence but I'm afraid to try them again. Is that a side effect people are familiar with?
>>
>>77391102
Not the same benefit as eating fish.
It's a waste of money.
>>
>>77392951
fish is full of worms though
>>
>>77392956
Cook it.
>>
>>77392956
Is it, or are you just regurgitating stuff you've heard, perhaps informed by a few random videos or images you've seen that you're extrapolating to "fish" in general?

Must be something in the shell of the pill, I got the same reaction from magnesium glycinate that was supposed to calm me down. Get it in syrup form or better yet eat fish because I've heard that most Omega-3 supplements are oxidized
>>
>>77393243
Retard, this wasn't "oh no i read something with my trigger warning and i got soooo scared", I could be doing and thinking about literally nothing and suddenly my entire body is racing and I'm 3 seconds from going to the hospital because I'm convinced I'm about to die and stuck like that for an hour
>>77393286
Interesting. Glycinate made me feel like shit but in a different way. I took other fish oils years ago and none of them bothered me beyond stomach upset, so maybe it was the brand. Which was Nordic Naturals which is supposed to be the best, but whatever.
>>
>>77391102
What is better for my joint health. Collagen or good quality fish oil?
>>
>>77393354
>get all fats as it upregulates hormones
>probably the wrong type of collagen make more soup
Fish pills and tisseries into French onion soup.
>>
>>77391102
Complete scam, guaranteed to be rancid, literally every study ever done on fish oil uses tricks to make it seem healthy; namely examining what happens when people replace seed oils with fish oil. Doing this shows lots of benefits but they are of course the result of reducing seed oil intake rather than increasing fish oil intake.

Fish oil and seed oil are both types of polyunsaturated fats and the optimal intake of both is zero. People who think that fish oil is a healthy food or supplement are victims of a marketing scheme, simple as.
>>
>>77393362
Since when is eating seeds/nuts and fish unhealthy?
>>
>>77393369
Since the dawn of time. Polyunsaturated fats are harmful regardless of whether they come from nuts or seeds or fish.
>>
>>77391279
I hate fish.
>>
>>77393358
The idea of different types of collagen being at all important from a dietary perspective is pure marketing bullshit. It doesn't matter what type of collagen you eat, it's all getting broken down into the same amino acids after it hits your stomach.
>>
>>77392337
Vegetables yes fruit no
>>
>>77393391
I've heard that but still prefer extra supplementation even if. Some people prefer to have high leucine or something as if just having more complete proteins isn't better, but there's also the nitrogen shit which I have no idea. If nothing else I'd be trying to maximize collagen production by requiring it first and constantly having high fats, vitamins, minerals, and protein. It always confuses me on what to do with a lifting injury/strain since you don't want to lift but you also want to be at a surplus to recover better. Protein synthesis just doesn't happen when you're hungry, maybe for a few hours after a big meal and worse than if you were recovering while bulking but who even knows for sure there are too many variables.
>>
>>77393381
Aren't seed oils mono? I'm all for avoiding unsaturated fats but I am too lazy to do research and just figure that having a little but of everything is what your body is optimally supposed to eat. Instead of vegetable oil maybe just some peanuts and seeds in a salad. I kind of make an effort to add olive oil, fish, and fatty meats at seemingly appropriate amounts. But look up fatty acid chains I think you have your shit reversed which would cause confusion talking to the muscle scientists.
>>
>>77393437
Then you aren't eating zero fat
>>
>>77393443
I'm not saying don't supplement collagen, you absolutely should, but I don't think there's a point to being too concerned about the exact types of collagen in your supplement. As long as you're getting lots of glycine, that's all that really matters.

>>77393462
>Aren't seed oils mono?
It varies. Nothing is pure polyunsaturated and I suppose some are worse than other depending on just how much of each they have but none of it is good.

>what your body is optimally supposed to eat.
There's really no scenario where your body is supposed to eat vegetable fats. If you go way back we came from frugivorous primates, and all living primates today with the sole exception of gorillas are frugivores and get very little fat. Later on we were scavengers of animal carcasses, and much later we were hunting our own animals. There's no point in our evolutionary history where vegetable fats would have been a regular part of our diet and it's only extremely recently that seeds and grains and associated vegetable fats became a significant part of our diet and the evidence against them mounts daily.

Unsaturated fats in general are directly toxic to mammalian mitochondria; they're incompatible with our biology on a cellular level.
>>
>>77393462
This is a pretty sane take
>>
>>77393471
Don't play these stupid semantics. Yes if you eat 1,000 calories of carrots you'll get a small amount of fat but it's not significant.
>>
>>77393486
I'm glad we agree you aren't eating zero fat

>>77393493

>>77393498
>I was wrong and used a word with a definitive meaning and I can't admit it so I'll keep responding with cope.
>>
>>77393500
I'm not the guy you were talking to, buddy. Just pointing out that someone eating a "very low calorie diet" who claims to be getting zero fat obviously doesn't mean literally zero, as every non-processed food has at least trace amounts of fat. Having a weird little autistic meltdown over it is pretty bizarre.
>>
>>77393524
>You're the one having an autistic meltdown even though I keep solving puzzles on an anime website to make posts because I can't cope with the fact that I used a singular and definitive word with a non-negotiable mathematical value to describe something with different numerical value
>>
Only vitamin D beats it out for necessary supplements, dont use brands from the grocery store or pharmacy they can go rancid very easily and do more harm than good
>>
>>77391141
Just eat salmon, mackerel, and sardines daily and you won't need these artificial supplements.
>>
I took it and feels like pin needles poking me in my veins, what is that
