I wouldn't put in replacement tooth nowadays if I was in the situation and I tell people that you can't outbrush bad eating/drinking habits. Just don't let your mouth dry out.
>>
>>77392719
i've got a tooth that needs pulling (it's bad, they're not ripping me off, quite broken and past the point of filling) and the dentist isn't recommending i replace it. it's a backmost upper molar. is that OK or will it fuck up how my face looks?
>>
>>77392719
The only thing truly a scam are root canals because those are one of the highest profit procedures in the industry. You should just get an implant at that point.

Always look at the money. If something isn't making people a ton of money, it's probably not a scam.
>>
>>77392752
I had a root canal recently.
$400 out the door.
Dude had a new tooth CNC milled while doing the operation.
2hrs and it was done.
Pain was a 2/10 that day.
7 days later 0/10 pain
Idk why ppl think dentist shit is expensive.

Way better than suffering with a tooth that kept getting reinfected every few months.
>>
>>77392719
/fit/ had me thinking that you didn't need wisdom teeth removed and it wasn't until months long tooth aches that i finally got them out and the abscesses stopped.
dentistry is not a scam.
>>
>>77392719
Dentistry isn't a scam.
And OP is a faggot looking for an excuse to not brush and floss.
Your teeth are one thing that will filter you hard with women.
Brush and fucking floss.
>>
>>77392732
This. If you're going to be lazy about tooth care, at the bare minimum brush with an electric tooth brush before you go to bed. It's the most important time to brush since most people sleep with their mouth open and it dries out your teeth leaving em more susceptible to whatever bullshit is sitting on them
>>
>>77392719
brushing and flossing at mornings/nights or after meals is going to do a lot of preventative maintenance. being consistent on this with good technique is going to stop most low/mid problems. dental procedures are relatively "cheap" compared to the bullshit charges a hospital/clinic gives and directly solve a lot of pain/QoL stuff
>>
>>77392719
I'd get fake teeth like Boogie1488 if I had the money

guys so im in the military and i got my wisdoms taken out.... to get out of something i had that day. i was claiming i had pain, but i didnt, the dentist after seeing the xray was reserved about getting them out and thought i was lying about the pain. she then probed on the socket where my mandibular wisdom teeth were, and there was pus so she gave the go ahead to get all four extracted. my maxillary wisdoms were FULLY erupted. im so stupid. did i fuck up my face?

according to chinese studies, removing the lowers dont affect the face. but i havent seen enough studies for the uppers. would removing the uppers mess up the face? i did see one study where they were looking for face slimming, removed both upper and lower, and didnt notice any but thats just n=1 and they only measured like cheek volume. help bros im so worried. and im so stupid. i did it because i didnt prepare my shit for that day so i was going to get in trouble if i showed up without it prepared. everyone in my group agreed though that our specific manager for that day was putting in too much retarded shit and instead of just taking the hit on the chin i decided to fucking extract teeth. fuck
>>
>>77392752
insurance doesn't cover implants at all
they cover bridges which are way worse than implants and dont last you a lifetime
dental insurance is a joke
>>
>>77392751
It's fine. I have all 4 back molars crushed by my wisdom teeth coming in sideways and that was a long, long time ago. And one tooth collapse from 8th grade, which hasn't changed much in decades
>>
As a dentalfag I love these threads since they're broscience general.
Avoid carbs and do OMAD and you won't have any problems (yes it's that easy).
>>
>>77392990
dentalfag thoughts on this? >>77392971
ive been scouring for studies to see whether or not it should affect the face. i think the closest study i got was the slim the face chinese one, reported none. saw many studies pertaining to mandibular wisdoms and said no changes.

my problem is though is that mine 100% didnt need to be extracted and the initial dentist was very against it but i was pressuring her into doing it, most of these studies the teeth did need to be extracted. i think. though im not sure, i literally only have a few months of compsci college at that so i dont know.
>>
>>77393000
Only in extreme cases when someone is missing like half of their teeth wisdom tooth extraction could affect symmetry. During my 10 years if practice I've never encountered a problem like that.

>>77392971
Bro what
Having your wisdom teeth removed is notoriously painful, like for days afterward....
And you found that preferable to doing a bit of work??
>>
>>77392915
>brush and floss
Malnutrition is responsible for tooth decay, not hygiene. Vitamins D3 and K2 will repair teeth. Look into Dr. Weston A. Price.
>>
>>77392908
I didn't say it was expensive with insurance. It's profitable for dentists that's a very different thing. It doesn't help long term because you leave (ironically) a giant cavity behind for bacteria, which is why root canals are almost guaranteed repeat business. If you have the means, you should just definitively solve the problem.
>>
>>77392719
all dental issues are caused by plant based diets
>>
>>77392719
Getting a bridge is an absolute scam. The destroy 2 healthy teeth and rot them cause food will get inside the bridge.
Get an implant instead.
>>
>>77392719
The prices are, and so are some of the procedures
>>
Back in the day people didn't suffer as much as we do today.
Modern human mouth bacterias got turned into ultra giga dupped niggers cause of post industrial revolution diets.
Meme diets won't do the trick. You have to meticulously clean and take care of your teeth.
>>
>>77392908
root canals dont work
enjoy getting your tooth pulled and paying to get a replacement in few years

Just spent $3k on a root canal. Guess we will see how things pan out for me.

Root canals are a scam for the opposite reason, they are built around the assumption that an infection in such a location has no way of clearing on its own, but it does. It just goes away and drains in a while. It ruins your tooth for absolutely no reason.
>>
I know someone with 15-20 years old root canals and all of them still hold.
Might vary a lot depending on the dentist's skill and the person's mouth/habbits

It's a modern solution to a modern problem

This screams "USAF nonner" bullshit . You deserve everything happening to you. You elected for dental surgery instead of taking it on the chin at work for being unprepared. Get back in the scif you fucking faggot and load my goddamn SKL. I can't take you fucking comm fags doing the absolute bare minimum when I'm working rolling 12's on the goddamn flight line. Learn from this and be better

Everything is always a scam until something real actually happens and you need a professional to help you. People without problems always talk the loudest

I have an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation of the kidneys and the tiny blood vessels close to the skin.
The first part is invisible irreversible damage over time, the second part creates visible red bumps on my legs and arms.

I've had a flare since last year and we didn't know what to do.
In the meantime I've had a wisdom tooth that was rubbing against a nearby molar and pushing on it. The doc was saying I should take it out at some point, nothing urgent, wasn't going bad or anything.

I eventually read how important the tonsils are in regulating immune system so I call up the doc and schedule a wisdom tooth removal.
When they pulled it out they said it was fine but there was a small amount of gingivitis where the two teeth were touching.

A week later all my skin symptoms disappeared and haven't come back. The vasculitis just gone.
Of course the kidney part is much harder to control but still.

I'm an extreme case because I can visibly see the disease, but even if you are healthy, not having a perfectly healthy mouth could be wrecking your entire immune system.

Yes.
It is not a coincidence that the first medical philosopher, Hippocrates, is known by the maxim "first, do no harm." Doctors, since time immemorial, are incentivized to fuck up their patients and in so doing procure repeat customers.

I had an accident when I was 10 when two front incisors got knocked out, intact. They put them back and gave me root canals on both. Now 20 years later I had to have them extracted because they were rotting from the inside, which was always going to happen. I'm getting implants later this year
>>
>>77392971
>but i havent seen enough studies for the uppers. would removing the uppers mess up the face?
Yes it changes your face. But what are you gonna do about it right now? They're gone, why worry about things you cannot change?
>>
>>77393120
If only that were true, I've been on D3 and K2 for over three years, it's done fuck all for my teeth.
>>
>>77392751
>it's a backmost upper molar. is that OK or will it fuck up how my face looks?
I cracked that tooth and had it pulled. Paid cash. My two front teeth have moved apart and the molar underneath grew up to fill the gap. I guess it could change your looks.

Money well spent. I had a root canal at 22 when I split a tooth. Basically caused it by doing a lot of HIIT.
Don't listen to these anti dentistry fags. They're all mad they have to take care of their mouths and are too lazy to do basic dental hygiene.

industrial dental complex moshe arrived
