behold, the king of lifts. surely you do olympic lifts, right anon?
>>
>>77394224
Throwing weights around with explosive force is stupid. This is just a relic of old strongman circus routines. Gotta lift the bar slow and controlled for best benefit.
>>
>>77394224
Why would I?
>>
>>77394225
depends on your goals, for hypertrophy clean and jerk wouldn't be my pick but for athleticism and rate of force, it has no equal.
>>77394233
surely you want to be more powerful no?
>>
>>77394224
>maximizing the risk of injury exercise
>>
>>77394224
>olympic lifts
>>
>>77394350
didn't feel like excluding other lifts lol since not everyone does clean and jerk
>>
you can really tell that a dyel made this thread
>>
I did these for 4 years starting from covid and I plateaud and just stopped, but these made my traps really huge, especially snatches, and made my forearm muscles pretty big.

I remember dropping the bar on my head so many times on my first year for snatches. Right now I just do hang cleans and jerks sometimes, but a push press does the same thing.

All of sport and real-world human performance has a huge power component. Additionally, we lose the ability to produce power at a much faster rate than we lose strength -- 20-40% power loss per decade after age 30, vs ~8% strength loss.

Slow and controlled is fine for absolute novices and people who only care about flexing in the mirror. Anyone concerned with performance or proper anti-aging is a total clown if they aren't doing power moves of some variety.
>>
Seeing as how I have no intention of ever being an olympic lifter, no.
>>
>>77396710
Mkay but it's not like olympic lifts are the only lifts capable of training power. You can do it with literally any lift that you perform explosively. Hell, isometrics have shown to be good at improving power generation too. Oly lifts remain a stupid risk if you're not training to be an oly lifter.
>>
Just started oly after 10+ years of powerlifting and it is soooo much harder and the learning curve is wildly steeper

Imagine having to execute a textbook perfect golf swing, except the club weighs 200 lbs
>>
>>77394224
show me a single non-roid tranny olympic weightlifter who doesn't look fat or completely DYEL
>>
its not 2010. no one oly lifts anymore and /owg/ has been dead for years
>>
>>77394241
>but for athleticism and rate of force, it has no equal
crossfit is not a sport, it's not athletic, clean and jerk has no value in sport
>>77396710
>power moves of some variety
literally wtf are you talking about, olympic lifts have no value in sport, NFL combine keeps bench reps only for historical purposes
>>
>>77394224
>Insist on full rom and good technique
>also praise the cheated curls and OHPs colloquially called olympic lifts
Why are /fit/fags like this
>>
>>77396710
>want to develop power
>your choices:
>Hugely technical lifts with high chance of injury
OR
>Throwing around medicine balls, clapping push ups etc.
>Use the lifts
>>
>>77396838
>and it is soooo much harder
It isn't, you just destroyed your explosiveness with powershitting.
>>
>>77397063
>olympic lifts have no value in sport
They train you for expliosive movement if all you did until now was max strength training, but there are other way of doing that.
>>
>>77394224
How TF does a nigga who can easily front squat and throw 500+ lbs over his head have no appreciable muscle tone in his legs or arms? I can't even lift half of what he can I look more jacked than him. He looks like a standard fat guy with a big belly and small limbs.
>>
If your goal is only posing in the mirror then yes olympic lifts are extremely redundant for you. But for literally everything else they are essential. nothing teaches your body to work as one unit to the same degree clean and jerk or other olympic lifts do
>>77397142
I think that explosiveness is mostly neural, and if you look at lower weight classes they are very fit too. Lasha weights 180kg+ if I remember correctly
>>77397084
>apples and pears
why are retards like this
>>
>>77397142
that's because he's 35%+ body fat, which is a requirement to be among the strongest men in the world
if he cut he'd look just like the bodybuilders you jerk off to
