>all the effort for a 4cm muscle you can barely see and it doesnt affect arms' aesthetic one bit
Holy shit. Why do this instead of reverse curls, that actually do something for your forearms?
>>
>>77404490
I'm still gonna do them, Isratel.
>>
Is this true? Have I been wasting my time doing hammer curls after seated incline dumbell curls?

Straight forward hammer curls hit both heads evenly
Straight forward hammer curls are the only curl that will develop your entire bicep if that's all you do

>>77404500
Seated curls are retarded
Your first movement for a muscle should always be the one that moves the most weight
>>
>>77404500
imo hammer curls are a good timesaving in-between of regular curls and reverse curls. if you're doing hammer curls after regular curls, you might as well just do reverse curls instead after your normal ones.
i personally just do hammer curls and neutral grip pullups, but mostly because it feels good, not because im trying to grow my forearms.

Just do all the curls and you'll hit all the muscles
Also if you seriously don't feel the rest of the bicep working with hammer curls then you must be using granny weights
>>
>>77404563
Is 16kg/35lb decent for hammer curls?
>>
Are reverse curls a decent substitute for hammer curls? Genuine question I’m kinda new and I really like reverse curls but am yet to get hammers right.

Any weight is as long as you're hitting your limit, of course you should increase weight at some point like with every excercise if you don't want to stagnate.
Also just noticed OP thinks hammer curls are a forearm excercise, lol.

It's about the strength gains and support for your arm not for tyrone to ogle while you swallow his load, if vanity is what you're chasing then you might as well go shopping for dresses and high heels with women.

for me, it’s zottman curls.

Seated Close Grip Bar Cable Curls
DB Preacher Curls
Reverse EZ Bar Curls

For me. I don't give a shit about anything else.

no lol

For the strict it is. I can swing 200lbs like a retard for Hammers, what's the point if it won't do shit for my Biceps anyway. Even as little as 10kg is fine for Biceps.

Just find a nautilus preacher machine with the slightly angled handles- still working bis but bringing in brachi and brachiradio a little bit and all the effort is going into only those muscle groups.
>>
It adds mass to your arm. I bet you think training the long head of the biceps or the soleus is pointless too.
>>
Wait, people actually think hammer curls don't also work the bicep itself? This board is genuinely full of some of the dumbest people on earth.
>>
>>77404556
You only don't see people using their hips to forearm curl because nobody is gonna call them small.
>>
>>77405787
It's actually better for the outside of the biceps also. Mmc deniers will be fed to the lions.
>>
>>77404490
forearms will get tired a lot quicker than your biceps, reverse curls are a bad exercise as they don't do shit for your biceps
>>
I like the way my shoulders look when I do hammer curls. I generally just do them in between sets of curls to get some variation into my arm work out. I'll do seated curls, a couple sets of hammers, and then usually hit triceps on the cables.
>>
Just do reverse curls and switch to normal curls when your forearms give out, it’s not complicated.
Hammer curls are fine too but they make my elbows feel weird for some reason.
Really you should just be doing as many curl variants as possible in a week. At least one per workout, even leg days. Biceps recover quickly and can handle plenty of volume, and biceps pumps feel fucking amazing so why not spend as much of your life with a bicep pump as possible?
>>
>>77405787
It doesn't, it only works the brachialis, retardd.

Crazy how stupid you are. Your parents must be a sight to behold.
>>
Fellas you're saying hammer curls are pretty much a bicep workout? Because I did a bunch of hammer curls yesterday and I don't feel like topping off today's back workout with bicep curls.

What are the best bicep exercises?
>>
There are so many midwits in this thread it’s crazy.
>>77406058
so close to understanding.

I will break it down for you retards. The biceps has two functions. Supination, and elbow flexion. The brachialis is a pure elbow flexor. When the hands are in a neutral position or further beyond into supination (yes this includes hammer curls) the biceps will be active. Various degrees of rotation will be more biceps or brachialis dominant, the biceps being more mechanically advantaged the more supinated the hands are, but generally speaking both will always be working together to perform elbow flexion. If brachialis isolation is the goal biomechanically speaking a reverse curl is as good as it gets due to the complete lack of supination. Also, muscle length to bias the short or long heads of the bicep, say in something like a preacher curl vs an incline curl, does increase bias to a degree but both heads will always be working it isn’t like the biceps is biarticular like the long head of the triceps. I personally do EZ Bar preachers, dumbbell incline curls, and dumbbell incline hammers or preacher hammers. But it doesn’t even matter. Pick a stable lift where the resistance profile won’t change as you add weight and just stick with it.

thanks lyle

>>77404490
>instead of reverse curls
I do both.
>>
>>77404577
Doesn’t matter, could be 5 kg, as long as you work hard and long enough to produce hyperthropy.
>>
>>77404526
You're fat
>>
>>77406058
Forearm curls suck at hitting the entire bicep and only doing them will neglect a lot of the fibers.
>>
>>77406701
>doesn't home gym
If you lean on the wall or whatever you can get a lot more out of a biceps day

genuinely retarded movement - you are sacrificing intensity on the bicep focused movement to tack on a completely inefficient forearm movement

do intense bicep focused work and then go do intense forearm focused work, don't half ass both
>>
>>77407994
its good for mobility
>>
>>77407994
Top lifts for forearm focused work?
>>
I sometimes do hammers and every time I like the feeling when you get to grab a big weight in that position. Like just grabbing it in hammer position with an intention to do something activates half a dozen muscles directly when you start to flex.
>>
>>77407357
Agreed, I would consider a strict curl a stable movement, like what I was saying. I do lift at a public gym, but I have adjustable dumbbells up to 80lbs and an adjustable bench. With just those you can do any of the variations I mentioned (a dumbbell preacher with the bench at an incline for opposing force, for example). I am never going to say that the basics don’t work they obviously do but in my own experience picking more stable or unilateral (where it makes sense) exercises leads to more consistent gains. I am 180 pounds, I barbell preacher curl 90lbs for working sets. If I were to do that standing or even as a strict curl, to an extent, it would pull me forward at peak resistance because it’s half my bodyweight, unless I (and you will involuntarily) stabilize myself with my hips and ass. It all works but it’s easier in the logbook to have nice standard reps if you pick stable exercises that are just grip it and rip it.
