What's the mercury-free alternative?
>>77404655mackerel?
Don't be American?
>>77404655canned chicken dumbass
>>77404655fish lower on the food chain>sardines>anchovies (not the heavily salted kind)>catfish >cod
>>77404655deenz
>>77404721salmon is fine mercury-wise too, and you can buy it canned boneless in the same size can as tuna. more expensive and not as tasty though
>>77404655Just eat some crab or take some selenium supplements to balance out the mercury. When I worked at a sushi restaurant I ate bluefin tuna every day with no issues because I was also eating real Norwegian snow crab along with it.
>>77404683How is being Mahongwe going to stop the aquatic food chain from concentrating mercury in predator fish?
>>77404655Mercury is good for you.
>>77404981It’s literally toxic
>>77404984So is fucking water.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication
Fish oil?
>>77404923Enjoy your mercury poisoning
>>77405043canned salmon is comparable to sardines in mercury content. that level of mercury is generally regarded as safe to consume for frequent meals. do you just avoid fish entirely? is mercury the only thing you get this paranoid about?
>>77404683
>>77404721Ive found that Its almost impossible to get anchovies that rent heavily salted.
Mussels are a good one as are sardines. Lean fish and even Salmon kinda suck. Lean fish are low omega 3 because you're not getting a lot of fat. Salmon is farmed so they can literally feed them flax seed to pump the omega 3 without increasing the EPA+DHA that you eat fish for in the first place. Mackerel is also nice (not the big predator one just the ones maybe as big as a cucumber like not even a kg).Tuna is honestly kinda fine though but I wouldn't make it my main (marine) protein source, maybe twice a month or so if you like it is probably fine.
>>77405729>Salmon is farmedonly if you buy farmed instead of wild-caught
>>77405941okay you got me there but good wild caught salmon is kinda hard to get. especially since we are talking canned fish here haha.
What's the microplastuic-free alternative?
Sardines have less mercury but more fat.
>>77404655Spaghetti alle Cozze e vongole
>>77406007So?
>>77405729Mussels are bottom feeders and have other significant heavy metal concerns not just mercuryAvoid all atlantic salmon, it is all farmed even if it doesn't say on the packaging. Also do not buy or eat canned foods, especially sardines/mackerel etc. The canning process is cooking the fish in the can, which is lined in plastic and then stored on a shelf for years and years. You might as well be injecting estrogen and fucking up your entire hormonesIf you want to eat fish, eat fresh or frozen fish, preferably frozen on-ship.
>>77405029Something like 70% of fish oil supplements are rancid and highly oxidized. Omega 3s are unstable and oxidize quickly You are harming your health every time you take those. If you are looking to increase omega 3/6 you should be eating fresh fish and only smaller fish such as sardines, baby anchovies etc. Do not eat canned sardines.
>>77406002>readily available at any Walmart or Costco>kinda hard to get
>>77406600>Do not eat canned sardines.Everyone eats canned sardines
>>77406600But it doesn't oxidize in the fish, right? Why would it oxidize faster in the fish oil than the canned fish? I still think getting it (and most nutrients) from whole foods is better, but I don't get that.
>>77404655>mercuryIs a meme. Tuna has some of the highest selenium. Guess what mineral attracts and removes heavy metals like mercury from the body?
>>77406674Well I guess that makes it ok
>>77406676>why would isolated fish oil kept exposed to the open air in a factory and then put in a jar loosely oxidize faster than in vacuum sealed tins
>>77407025They don't just keep the extracted oil in an airtight container to avoid this before it gets sealed in a pill? Huh
>>77407080How do you think it gets into the pill
>>77404977Name a single person who has died from dietary Mercury poisoning. Go ahead. Try to find a single case. The only cases of Mercury death from eating fish was when a corporation dumped literal tons of methylmercury into Minamata Bay, i.e. doses not even remotely possible from natural sources.Selenium (which is also found in fish) binds to Mercury and makes it inert (non-absorbable), if you are so worried about Mercury. You could even supplement it (which has other benefits to boot).>>77406002Any place that sells farmed salmon will also sell wild caught. It is not hard at all to get. It is just more expensive.
>>77407099>its only bad if you dieI guess eating Twinkies and ramen for 10 years straight is healthy, huh?
>>77407025>>77406600Thanks for the heads up anon. I just cannot eat fish it is repulsive. If there is a better way I just don't want to eat it. But I'll chuck the fish oil. For sure.
>>7740465538 grams of Protein... a few of these a day and you are good to go!
>>77407216You can just bite open a capsule every once in a while to check. It should taste only mildly fishy and mostly just oily, if it's strong then it's likely gone off.
>>77407549Yeah this definitely seems like a totally reliable way to test your supplements, with literally zero point of reference and off the advice of someone on an anime website
>>77407099>Selenium (which is also found in fish) binds to Mercury and makes it inert (non-absorbable)asked grok about this and he basically says no thats bullshit.
>>77404981thisif 100 is toxic for you, then 50 or even 10 might be toxic for parasites inside you, maybe even cancer
>>77408029>The metabolism of every organism is identical. The dose just varies because of size.Yeah thats not how biology works
>>77408116it is you can die of water
>>77408129Its notThat has nothing to do with anything.
>>77408134you're stupid lmao
>>77408135Whatever ends this cringe conversation, bro.
>>77408136lmao are you crying
