this works like a full body calisthenics program but better, since you need to coordinate every part of your body. because of this, it makes you better at sports which are not some form of lifting weightsyou should try it
>>77414496Can confirm. whipping servants with this is an amazing workout.
>DID YOU THINK YOU WERE ENDURING AND PATIENT>DID YOU THINK YOUR LIMBS COULD MOVE SYNCHRONOUSLY>DID YOU THINK YOUR CALVES AND ANCLES WERE TOUGH>LMFAOFor an adult rope jumping is a humiliation ritual.
>>77414496Amen brother Started earlier this year. Went from hating cardio (having used exercise bikes to lose 70lb) and never having jumped rope to 15 minutes every other day.Getting good is rewarding. No substitute for putting the time in and paying attention to your movements. The intensity gets my heart rate up - giving a far better ROI over cycling or running. If anyone is on the fence or is looking for a good cardio option with minimal time/cash investment - jumping rope is worth it.
>>77414745if you ever let yourself get fat then getting back to it is a humiliation ritual hahaha im so fucking fat rn but the rope helps. instead of neck hangs with the rope i jump it
>>77416471i do 3x8 neck hangs twice a week
>>77415190How do you deal with the shin splints you get from jump rope though?
>>77414496I jump rope every day and it's made my knees really attractive
>>77417297Don't do it on concrete. Do it on a padded surface or grass
>>77414496Based, I have that exact ropeThis guy is my inspiration https://youtu.be/GEei9-Yd18k
>>77417297If your shins hurt - stop. You want to put down the rope while you’re still excited to pick it back up. Taking a day or two off to recover is far more important that rushing initial progress.I don’t have a padded place to jump. But locking in technique (small, accurate jumps) and getting experience under your belt helps a lot.
>>77417297
>>77417297try doing it barefootif you're a weenie you can do it on a yoga mat
>>77417488>vid relatedLooks kinda gay while at the same time fun. Moving this fluidly at speed is quite impressive. Any recommendation re: equipment? Steelc cord or rubber rope?
>>77419463the cheap ones are fine. the "regular ones" i.e. not a speedrope or a weighted rope. weighted ropes are based but if you don't have the conditioning from a regular rope then the weighted ropes are gonna be way too difficult.
>>77419463>Steelc cord or rubber rope?i have both and you can go faster with the steel cord but if you hit yourself with it then it kinda fucks your shit up
>>77419476>>77419483thnx anon. unused to have these but they were kinda shit. I think i‘ll go for something adjustable in the $25 area with ball bearings.
>>77414496Instead of using the rope why can't I just do little jumps and twirl my wrists?
>>77417297use running shoes on whatever surface you have available
>>77419463Steel rope hurts but rubber one just breaks at some point
>>77417401it always drags on grass to the point of being unable to keep it in motion, even with the grass cut as short as possible, how to fix?
>>77420105use running shoes on a hard surface
>>77414496I want to get into it but I'm not sure what shoes to wear or what surface I should be jumping on in order to not fuck up my joints.
>>77414745thats a you issue desu
>>77419696you can get ropeless jump ropes which removes the need to jump the rope. they say it is less taxing on the body because you don't need to concentrate on coordination and just spin your wrists and jumps.
>>77420114nah skipping wouldn't be the same with shoes on, I've always done it with bare feet from starting at an MT gym. I've never had issues with just skipping on stone floor but wondered how this wizard was managing to skip on the grass without it constantly snagging the rope.
>>77420661lol is this most pointless and worthless product ever made?
here is my jump rope. it’s a buddy lee aerospeed, it has ball bearings in the handles and requires next to no effort to get it moving.
>>77420105I dunno. I jump rope at my gym in a room that has padded astroturfAlso I bought an Amazon basics jump rope and it's superior to every rope at the gym. It's not too heavy but also not too light (those are infuriating) and fully adjustable
>>77420802>>77420878I like the standard plastic ones with thin handles since they're what MT/boxing gyms I've been to always have available and also they're about £2 to buy. I dislike the ones where it's actually braided from cotton-like material, they're too light, and not keen the ones that can rotate at the ends of the handles and especially the ones with a little screen that counts the spins, since I'm not sure who skips for a certain number of spins. which you can't even really check during, surely people just do so many minutes at a time. My friend was into the speed ropes that are very thin and wiry and could do some tricks with his like double unders that are easier with the wire, but I prefer a bit of weight to the rope.I always do them one footed, but usually 2 skips on each foot and then switch, like L L R R L L R R, and throw in high knee sprints for the last ten seconds of each round, feels good.
>>77421046I never do one legged but I should try that
>>77422022haha do you do the schoolgirl skipping with both feet at once and a little mini jump in between?
>>77422028Its just regular jump rope, dolt
>>77422066you do sing a little rhyme while you do it though right? Relax, I'm just teasing, you should try one foot at a time though, it's much better once you get the hang of it.
>>77422028That other anon wasn't me. I do regular jumping without the little jump. Like Rocky
>>77419082Hey, kids!Wanna look even gayer?
