I started doing calisthenics three weeks ago and I can now do five pushups after starting from barely being able to hold a plank for 20 seconds. Am I going to make it?
>>
I just started too. Bought some gymnastic rings and hung them on the patio. Started out with push ups, hangs, and Australian pull-ups. I have a rowing machine for cardio but it's mind numbingly boring so I'm planning on jumping rope instead.

All cardio sucks and is stupid and boring. Just keep changing it up. Burpees, swimming, sprints, incline walking, biking, etc.
>>
there are only 2 possible outcomes:
either you give up
or you make it

>Am I going to make it?
Stupid question, of course you are. Calisthenics is objectively the best starting point, and you sound motivated enough to keep going.

Dunno, your initial gains are all neurological. You will make it if you can stick to eating a lot of protein and being in a calorific surplus. This is hardest part.

HOW FAT ARE YOU PEOPLE
>>
>can do pushups
You already made it, most people can't do a pushup and just give up.

Check out Mark Wildman on YouTube. He has a pushup progression program. Basically you want to test your max reps and then you will do an every minute on the minute workout at 40% of your max. So for yourself that means 2 push ups and then rest the remainder of the minute. Your goal is to complete 30 minutes and then re-test your max push ups again. That 30 minutes is the target to re-test again. It's okay if you can only do 10 or 12 minutes. You just add a few minutes on every day and build to 30.

You can do this with pull ups too. Definitely start doing pull ups. If they're just way too hard and you can't even do 1 then that's fine, use dip bars and do inverted rows so you are in a reverse plank position pulling up towards the bars.

Hell if everyone just tried doing push ups, pull ups and squats/lunges on a regular basis the population would be massively fitter.

It's time to roll for pushups
>>
Yes, you are. Good luck brother in rings. Don't give up.

Is that actually a thing? I can understand not being able to do a pullup, but pushup? Does not compute
>>
>>77420621
Most women can't. I can't imagine most men not being able to at least do one though.

Another day, time for pushups
>>
>>77420044
fuck around with basic calisthenics for a month, get a pullup bar, fuck around with that for 3 months, buy rings, 50kg in plates of various weights, sturdy backpack, maybe one dumbbell, maybe pushup handles for a few bucks and you might become ridiculously strong
>>
>>77420044
You are going to make it, and you are an inspiration to others (like me, for example!).

>Most women can't. I
I had a gf who couldn't do a single pull-up or push-up, but she'd been a deep-tissue massage therapist for 17 years; she could crush your head with her hands.
Ahhh...memories!
