the human brain can make your body release whatever chemicals it wants, you can just imagine something scary and your body will react as if you're really being chased by lions or something. So why can't you think your way to gains? Theres got to be a way to meditate and THINK about exercising and then get all the benefits from it, imagine just daydreaming about a set and your body basically does it with nothing but the power of your mind.

>will to powerlifting
>>77420124There are studies showing that muscle improves slightly just by visualization but not as much as actually lifting. The physical stimulus is just too powerful.
I think therefore I lift
>>77420360You can do both.
>>77420124You can also get all the good feelings of success and happiness and connection by imagining it and thus preventing yourself from being motivated enough to actually go achieve all that shit and ultimately being very uncontent.Fucking stupid ass brain.

I do believe in this. When I feel weak and like I'm not making progress I look like it too. When I feel big I look big. Simple really
There is a lot that can be done by will alone, the problem is that we don't have a clear formula.Think of it this way, can an average man raise 100 kg? We know it can because muscle are much more understood than the brain, there is also visible feedback to building them up, there are multiple things we can measure, real empirical data. You can talk about proteins their role in the body, how steroids affect our chemistry, yadda yadda...But a person who uses his will to do more exercise? What are they working on? What is the "muscle" in the brain that allows them to make it work?I believe we can, we just haven't figured out a way to reproduce it for everyone, an objective method and language.
>>77422011its well understood already, but its used to keep humans weak and docile because that's much better for society than telling everyone know they can do whatever they set their mind to.

>>77420124To a limited degree this is real, mental state has a direct effect on gains. But it does not control them.Think of it this way: replace gains with heart rate. Your mental state directly affects your heart rate. But you can't stop your heart like you hold your breath.
>>77420124>So why can't you think your way to gains?Danberu wrote an "Extra" chapter in one of its volumes that supports this.
>>77420124Yes. I do this for recovery after certain bodypart days. I dont think it can replace actual lifting, but it can enhance recovery. Impossible to measure, but it seems real.
