insane how many people fell for the deadlift meme and snapped their shit up for life
>>
>>77420842
I don't even understand how you can snap on this. It's literally just >pick thing off ground

I do this twice a week with atrocious form and never had an issue. They're probably safer than squats.
>>
>>77420842
Yeah but barbell squats are even worse

Sorry you were born with a glass back, pussy.
>>
Newfag here. Was dealifting always this disliked or did it start when that powerlifter shitted on deadlifts on joe rogan therefore allowing glass backs to vindicated?
>>
>>77420871
I dislike them because it's just babbys first 3pl8 ego lift for redditors. I only do old school SLDLs with a rounded back.
>>
>>77420871
Lurk moar nigger
>>
>>77420853
You can just squat with a belt squat or with a sandbag

>when that powerlifter shitted on deadlifts
Oberst (a strongman btw) pointed out that the risk/reward for high intensity deadlifts isn't worth it compared to power cleans. I fuckin detest midwit bro podcasts and even I listened to the fucking thing.
If you aren't chasing 1RM egolifts you're fine. For fucks sake, he's a strongman, so he lifts roundback (eg atlas stones). As long as you hold your brace and don't chase the 1RM dragon, you're fine. The problem is idiot redditor types who peacock their 1RM and also can't hold a fucking brace.

are rack pulls good? ive been doing below the knee ones

fucking RETARD
>>
>>77420921
i'd argue that RDLs and rack pulls do the best of both diddly things better than diddlies themselves (with the obvious caveat that now you have to do two lifts instead of one)
>>
>>77420921
No
>>
>>77420842
Deadlifts are great just don't over do them. Just do them with lower weights and once a week if you are worried about injuring yourself. Hell even every other week will still develop muscle.
>>
>>77420842
Deadlifts are great for your back as long as you have proper form and don't always go super heavy like retards mostly do.
>>
>>77420850
Ego lifting. That's how.
>>
all it takes is one day where you're not at 100% and have your form 100% dialed in. just 1 day where you go for that extra rep when you shouldn't and snibbity snab, there goes your fucking disc :DDD.
gay lift
>>
>>77420850
Powerlifters snap their shit up all the time doing deadlifting. It's just a matter of time

He's retarded for successfully lifting 725lb with perfect form?
>>
>>77420842
If you need straps/wraps/belt/chalk you are not strong enough to lift the weight. The worst exercise for natty and roidtranny alike. Should only be done with light weight as a mobility/flexibility movement.
>>
>>77421099
Only a retard would be proud of moving the bar 3 inches off the ground.
>>
>>77421099
>perfect form
Another retard…
>>
Deadlift has no other purpose than deadlift itself while yes it obviously strengthens the whole body until you enter somewhere around intermediate stage so from 3 to 4 plates for one good rep. You get serious systemic fatigue from it and the only purpose is if you were competing for that lift, nothing else.

I used to do it once a week for sometime and it had some rehab use because I had fucked my lower back doing other stuff and I was afraid I lost the ability to deadlift so I had to relearn it from like 50kg (I obviously haven't lost all the strength, was just fucked up for a while). After that I just dropped it again, I can just do rack pulls for upper traps / grip overload and deficit stiff-legs for posterior chain focus.
>>
>>77421014
Snapped my shit on the last rep of the last set. It wasn't even heavy. I forget who I was watching who was talking about how you should never expect to get injured... except for your lower back that was just a given to them.
>>
No use deadlifting unless you’re a competing powersharter. Trash for hypertrophy
>>
>>77420842
>every other lift
Yeah so you load up the bar with a weight you can do for 3x8 and then gradually introduce more weight by maybe putting on 10lbs more on your first set then deloading on your next two sets until you can do that added 10lbs across all three sets and over time this will let you load it up for muscle strength and growth.

>deadlift
Yeah just put on the most possible weight you can barely twist up off the floor for one rep.

This is why. If you approached deadlifts like any other lift you'd never get injured.
>>
>>77420842
What’s wrong with deadlifts?
>>
>>77421362
Because no one is actually doing them correctly, they’re just pulling up with their spinal erectors instead of using their hips legs and glutes. Spinal erectors are meant to help you stand upright, not pull massive loads. That’s why every moron injures himself eventually.

Truth is the deadlift is a very technical lift, it's not as simple as it looks and most people don't do them right. People do a lot of dumb shit too, I've seen people hit a "PR" of say 150kg, except their form was shocking, bar path was uneven and their spine looked fucked. But then they immediately attempt 160kg straight after. You wanna go heavy on deadlifts but at the same time you don't wanna ego lift, if that makes sense. Too many are pulling weight they shouldn't even be touching yet

Any lift can be dangerous if you make it so, if you're retarded enough there's so many ways you can hurt yourself training. I know someone who fucked his rotator cuff doing lateral raises

My all time PR is 240kg for 2 reps and my back is fine. And I'm actually old now too (37), so clearly it's not a case of just getting away with it because I'm 21 or whatever
>>
>>77421362
It only trains you to do competition deadlift and nothing else fully after you reach like 3 to 4 plate intermediate territory. It trains beginners who are weak in everything.

If you are sensible and use moderate weight, well then you don't get hurt but you are training basically no muscle to the max effort. Posterior chain, upper traps, even grip.

Doing two variations so (deficit) stiff-leg or rdl with half the weight trains the posterior chain better while something like rack pull with shorter motions overloads upper traps and grip better for more weight/reps.
>>
Thread is full of extreme brainlets.
Your back is not made of glass, it gets stronger and more resilient like any other structure when exposed to stress over time.
Loaded round back movement is not more dangerous than other movements.
Just because a lift gets classified as "one way ticket to snap city" by internet sheeple does not make it any more dangerous than anything else you do in the gym.
Injuries are a part of life when you're pushing your limits but are rarely permanent or debilitating.
You do not need to be obsessed with perfect form in deadlift lest you end up in a wheelchair. That doesn't make sense if you think about it for even two seconds. Why would your body possess such a fundamental weakness in doing something so fundamental to human beings? Stone aged people did not have access to squat u vids.

Literally none of the conventional wisdom regarding deadllifting makes any amount of sense either from a logical standpoint or from the real world evidence of guys doing insane zercher lifts for years and years while simply getting bigger and stronger and more functional.

The average normie, not to mention the average pajeet teenager posting on /fit/ Do not possess any ability whatsoever to critically evaluate received information.

Nigger you were supposed to be done after 6 months, tf you being doing for a year on SS?
>>
>>77421362
Your massive leg and ass muscles outpace your tiny lower back muscles pretty quick. You try to up the weight and it becomes too much for your lower back to hold form which causes disc herniation.

tick tock, faggot. enjoy it while you can cause you will blow your back out with your stupid meme lift soon enough.
>>
>>77422322
You don't need to have perfect for for this not to be the case. With decent form and pretty basic cues you can know when you're good to increase the weight.
You can just go to a powerlifting box for a month or two and learn the cues from a coach and then do progression on your own.

I OHP fuckin heavy every other day and just power cleaning the weight into position and lowering it down in a controlled manner is plenty

Kek, exactly why you shouldn't take all the stupid advice you see on this board seriously. There's some legitimately gold advice here but the problem is it's among a sea of trash from novice dyels and dudes who straight up don't lift

>>
i think guys who deadlift a lot just want an excuse to pop their bussy out and get meaty glutes
>>
>>77421630
You can put <50% of deadlift weights when learning a movement to lift stuff from floor on deficit and real awkward angles and rounded back if you start light. But still suffer significantly less cns fatigue or injuries or long rest between sets or stuff.

Deadlift is jack of all trades until intermediate level, cool, after that you are only learning to deadlift just to be able to deadlift. If you were to answer why are you deadlifting, you are just deadlifting to deadlift.
>>
Why do so many anons hate people who deadlift?
It's so controversial on something that shouldn't have any controversy.
So they do an exercise you don't like, so what?
Why be so mad about it?
