>shoulder pain/impingement in my left rear rotator cuff
>hurts like hell when I lay down on my back for more than a few minutes
>hurts to lift things above my head
>can't go heavy on any upper body lifts
>wasn't that bad at first but I brushed it off and kept lifting mostly like normal and it kept getting worse after every workout
it's fucking over, I should never have ego lifted. Learn from my mistakes.

Take a nice 6 month vacation from lifting with your shoulder, and pray it heals. That worked for my elbow.
>>
>>77420941
Do this shit (keep elbow close to hip during the whole exercise)

It helps more to do rehab exercises while you recover
>>
Alan Thrall made an interesting video where he only trained his other shoulder/part of upper body for 6 months while still obviously doing some tasks which involved both hands and he didn't really lose muscle. That sounds like a long time but he had had so much trouble with it over the years he decided he's not stopping the experiment no matter how good the other shoulder might feel.

Bench press claims another one

He only worked his non-painful side?

There aren't rehab exercises for everything.
>>
>>77421250
There literally is though?
>>

You got legs so work those. Take 3 months off for your shoulders. Work your grip as well. You will be just fine.

let me guess, barbell bench press/OHP?
>>
>>77420941
Just do more of your pressing sets more like the triceps variant, you usually miss out on the inner chest, inner delts, when you only do wide grip and once you get strong enough at wide then you haven't built up the close grip stabilizers and it just rips your shit apart.

You can do whatever stretching or rehab but if the problem keeps coming up every time you lift then you obviously have shit to work on.

>dips are weak
Very front delt intensive and hurts your total bench hard
>bench/incline is weak
Incline is more common, anyone can arch and bench more and it is even the safer way to bench but neglects upper chest hard and that being weak causes a myriad of problems when the weight gets heavy
>weak ohp/btb/strict shoulder work
Bench only causes lagging delts I'd know but most people make the mistake of some simpleton split of 33/33/33 bench/incline/ohp. Then mid delts being weak is common to cause weakness during bracing for any kind of press.

Back should be obvious, and other odd motions that involve delts need to be worked on constantly to keep progress at 100 and is very easy to cause imbalances on.

Yes so he only did one hand presses and rows and anything where shoulder joint was moving or had to stabilize. But he did any normal life tasks or loading plates or carrying groceries or whatever using both hands.
>>
you'll recover from it in time and then you can level it up with bands and light dumbbell work, look it up. kneesovertoesguy rotator cuff go

5/3/1 principles have some good tips like doing just one set to the end (after warmups) and always using less weight but just aiming for even 1-2 more reps when cycling weights (low-mid, mid, mid-heavy).
