Can I make gains on a pescetarian diet?
>>

it's protein so yes
oily fish is a good source of omega-3s
apex predator fish (swordfish, tuna) accumulate mercury
don't sleep on simple shit like sardines, anchovies, cod, trout, salmon and catfish
don't pair shellfish with red wine
>>
Hell yeah you can brother. Reject land meat, embrace the sea.

I regularly eat just plain canned salmon or tuna on fiber crackers, it's pretty tasty, you can get like 95g of protein out of a 14.75 oz.
Best part is it requires zero prep time or cooking, you can just put it on wasa bread or eat it right out of the can.

Be careful about the tuna bc mercury especially if it's albacore. Salmon is higher in omega-3 anyway.

You're not my dad, I do what I want!

Yeah. It’s not that expensive either if you mainly eat sardines (healthiest meat on the planet). Get some other fish once a week like snapper or grouper for variety. Learn to fish and harvest your own.

what's the point of this again? I eat around 1 spoon of linseed oil every day since my childhood, which is an excellent omega-3 source i am told. what exactly do i have this family habit to thank for?

Canned fish is extremely gross to me which is why I’ve avoided sardines. Do grocery stores sell them uncanned?

ok so unsaturated fats have different lengths, that's the number (omega -3, 5, 6, 7,9). For the most part we have 3,6,9, as part of our diet. These fatty acids do different things in your body. Generally omega-6, which is prevalent in grain, cause inflammation of blood vessels (this isn't intrinsically a bad thing, many biological things involve inflammation). 3s, found in flax, almonds and fish, and 7s and 9s, found in nuts, tend to reduce inflammation. In olden days when our food ate grass and such there was a nice balance of 3-6-9 but the force feeding of grain to our meats plus a grain heavy diet means we have more 6 than 3 and 9. So we balance the ratio so that we don't have inflammation.

You can pair red wine with fish, but with shellfish it precipitates a bitter iron compound that tastes bad.

any gains you accumulate will be mercurial
