Which supplements are actually effective and which are fucking memes?
>>
>>77433669
Almost everything is a meme if there's no veritable testing and that testing occurs regularly then only if they're willing to revoke their certification. Otherwise just zinc, magnesium and what not because they're so cheap to aquire it's almost more expensive to make scam versions.

There is no single comprehensive and accurate source for this. Running each one individually through WebMD, Healthline, NIH ODS, PubMed, and Google Scholar usually gives you a decent overview of documented effects. Comparison shopping several sellers is required to find a typical market price and quality/assurance.

the only one worth bothering with is protein supplements, and that's pretty much only needed when you're cutting, and not especially hard to get around
you can take some multivitamins if your diet is dogshit I guess, but if you eat somewhat properly they're not necessary

>just talkin' bout bro-tein n' vita-memes n' meme-erals n' shit
If your whole stack fits in the wiki, you're probably NGMI tier on the pharmacology with non-essential nutrients.

Sounds like something the FDA would recall.

I have noticed certain supplements do provide benefit though. Citrulline and cordyceps made my cardio and endurance training way easier, possibly due to vO2 max. Also noticed a big difference in both mental and physical performance running Alcar, ALA and Omega 3s. Creatine also produces a demonstrable effect in multiple studies on both physical and now, increasingly, mental performance, hence why its usually recommended as a bare bones supplement to take for a small incremental increase in strength gains via the increase of available ATP.

I'm down from like 50 supplements to just vitamin D. Mostly because I'm not out in the sun enough. Everything else I can just get from food. Saves money too

>which are actually effective
All of them
>which are fucking memes
All of them

The other anon believes in supplementmaxxing but personally I think you're not going to get any effect size worth the trouble unless you go to drugs. There are some REALLY cool investigational drugs though and if you know what you're doing you can build a genuinely powerful cocktail.

Retarded boomer advice that should stay in history

That mental boost is cherry picked with a very small sampke size. Like they measure a lot of cognitive abilities and just leave the ones that show result. All what those "studies" show is that a further investigation should be done and that's it.

only creatine is worth it for everybody and vit D3 for most people

Creatine
Glycine also helps improve sleep quality.

Creatine
Fish Oil
everything else is a meme

Creatine (5g/day) gave me severe insomnia. I was sleeping 1-3 hours per night, "waking up" mentally alert but feeling exhausted. It took me a week before I guessed it was creatine. About a week after I stopped my sleep went back to normal. I did a test a few months later just out of curiosity, and had the same symptoms a few days after I started taking it.

There isn't any research supporting this side effect, but I'd say it isn't worth the risk for most people. Any benefits it gives are not worth the loss of sleep.

Wait I have been taking creatine religiously for the last 6 months and two days ago I completely stopped taking it because I didn’t have my daily protein shakes and I slept better and when I had creatine again last night my sleep was shit so maybe you are right

I have severe difficulty staying asleep. I don't know where it popped into my head but I somehow go onto
>it's the creatine that's doing it
Every website and study says
>No, creatine does not cause insomnia, in fact it helps sleep deprivation
But then if you go looking, you'll find anecdotal evidence of hundreds of people saying creatine fucked up their sleep on message boards, social media, youtube etc. I don't know if it's what's causing issues in my case but I'm off it now and I'll see
>>
>>77433669
all of the effective ones are also memes
>>
Vitamin D
Magnesium
Non-rancid high quality Omega 3 fish oil
In that order
>>
I take it before sleep because it improves it. There is no known biological mechanism that would explain creatine disrupting sleep. If anything it helps the neurons.
>>
From experience: whey/casein, creatine, omega 3

Here's a thread, in b4 leddit, you can find people saying the same thing here on /fit/ in the archive this is just all in one thread

And there's many more

sulforaphane
>>
>>77436535
This one interests me as I know that you can only get a meaningful dose of sulforaphane from broccoli sprouts and supplementation. I just gotta grow them myself but I'm lazy as hell
>>
>>77433669
none of them, they block absorption of natural forms. They increase your blood numbers but don't do much else. They may also be harmful as with the vitamin A trials that were halted due to excess cancer deaths. You are basically throwing massive doses of unregulated chinese filth into a system that was never adapted or designed to handle it without serious consequences. Some shit like vitamin D cannot be broken down or stored beyond a certain limit so if you're max dosing for a long time youre gonna hurt yourself.
