I genuinely do not understand how anyone regularly sleeps on regular beds. I sleep on a bed occasionally and wake up with muscle pains, asleep limbs, and whole system feels out of balance. Not to mention how giant and hard to move and clean and spacetaking the average bed is. I sleep on solid hardwood floor. Seriously, fuck beds.

Go flavor your juice with lead and eat some mercury to cure your syphilis then. Of course i understand why people do it, just like how i "understand" why a mentally disabled person may eat their own shit. Its a metaphor, for me thinking its retarded.
People have been sleeping on floors for all of millions of years of humanity existence before beds were invented 5000 years ago, which is why i mentioned deprogramming, because I've only ever slept in a bed my whole life before becoming a floor sleeping chad, so learning how to sleep without one felt like reclaiming my ancestral abilities to survive without the imposed modern comforts.

> Deprogramming myself from the culture of excessive comfort agenda of the west
Anon, it's important to realize when something is a part of the Zeitgeist. But it's also important to realize that doesn't mean everything the west has done has been a net negative for humans on an individual level either. Choosing to sleep on the floor when you can find a bed that fits your criteria of "comfy but healthy" comes off as embracing counter culture too aggressively. Which is why anon says you are mentally ill. Like with most things, there is balance, and you still willingly chose the extreme
>>
I've been wanting to upgrade the mattress the gf and I sleep on for years. How do I go about finding a good one?

You are precisely the kind of brainwashed nigger that I will go to war on this front against. Look at the very first results for a image search of "koreans sleeping" that took me 2 seconds to find. Beds are actually the counterculture. To me, you are the mentally ill choosing the extreme of luxury. To me, you are the one out of balance.
Of course, in the picrel they are sleeping with a small mat or tatami, which i do most of the time too especially in winter. but that is a far more balanced and healthy sleep system, closer to the floor too, than the 5ft tallx8ft longx6ft wide 500 pound behemoth, token of sloth, perfect symbolism of the hedonism of the modern day, the modern bed.
And who the fuck are you to strawman me implying all this shit about western civilization? If I'm in the hospital for example, you best believe I'll be in a comfy bed. Give me the western life every time. Yet because I think because its fucked up to raise a child dependent on beds, that we need a little more balance in our sleeping culture, that everything the west has done has been a net negative on humans? That is nigger tier logic.

Sleeping on a soft bed is like taking the car instead of walking. Comfortable on the moment, but weakens your body over time if you do it every day.
That being said I don't recommend sleeping on the floor for hygienic reasons. A firm mattress or those japanese futons are fine. Keep them cleaned and aired.

I'm not strawmanning you when I directly quote you. If you're making a specific point about a specific thing, then be specific. Otherwise your statements are doing exactly what you claim they aren't (implying all this shit about western civilization).
And for some context, I slept on tatami + 3 inch futon for about 2 years. Nothing was worse for my back, and sleeping on a regular bed has helped me recover. There are plenty of things you can criticize with respect to overindulging in western culture. You just chose one of the most retarded things to criticize because having a nice comfy bed can be a huge improvement.

(even though all of this is simply the result of the MIRACLE of the production of resources that western civilization has given us combined with people's weak willpower to regulate themselves which is not necessarily anyone's fault at all and can be overcome)
>um, actually, here's a left-field anecdote that completely recontextualizes my seething as coming from a weakwilled underling who needs a whole team of soientists multiple years of study and RND to develop the perfect softness mattress for me to even have the chance of falling asleep

Not OP, but I tried a firm futon on this exact advice, and it was a complete waste of money. The floor is objectively better. You should either get a comfy mattress or go full hunter-gatherer and sleep on the floor. The middle ground is utterly pointless.
>>
>>77436142
>That being said I don't recommend sleeping on the floor for hygienic reasons.
There's nothing unhygienic about sleeping on the floor unless you never clean your house. Just lay a sheet or two on the floor and sleep on that, wash weekly the same way you would with any bedsheet.

I'm being very honest in the OP, i seriously don't understand how people can regularly sleep in beds. There is literally nothing better after a long day of intense physical exercise or labor than taking a shower and then laying flat on the solid wood floor wrapped in my feather and wool blankies. Maybe I'm autistic or something, its just a sensory nightmare. i swam like 5 kilometers one day last month and laying down flat on the floor was heaven. dont get me wrong it took a while for my body to adjust but i will never regualarly use a bed again, maybe when im 80 years old

Lying on a hard surface, on your back, allows you to completely relax all muscles. Beds don't do that.
I agree with you it's heavenly. I can lie on a solid floor and experience immediate deep relaxation.
I would suggest all naysayers try it and understand the profound comfort of it and at least acknowledge that it might be beneficial to sleep on the floor.

Now do you have something constructive to add to the conversation or just another retarded one liner
>>
I fall asleep easier on my sofa but wake up feeling like shit.
>>
>>77439327
You bring up a good point in that I a accept that I won't be a floor sleeper. But this largely stems from 2 facts. I've already tried futon sleeping at some point in my life and it didn't seem to help me much, and I know my girlfriend will never accept sleeping on the floor. I'm open to the idea though that our current way of sleeping is flawed, which is why I'm still here. And I'm waiting to hear constructive arguments as to why floor sleeping could be useful because even if it's something that I won't try, it's something I could recommend to people in the future if I like the arguments you have to make. The problem is that if you're going to try and convince people in general to do a thing you don't do it by calling them braindead and retarded. You do it by providing arguments as to why your options may be better and then recommend people try it for a time and to ultimately make the decisions for themselves. Kinda like how >>77436006 or >>77437624 did. The thing is, is the perspective of "it's difficult at first and it may permanently be less comfort but comfort isn't worth damaging yourself in the long run" is a valid point simply because people will actually take what you say into consideration. Whereas, "You're retarded unless you do this" is something people will just always ignore. Which is why I stopped seriously engaging you, because I think that other people articulated your own perspective better than you ever could.
