Hello anons. Longtime lurker, occasional poster. Here because I am ROONING a half-marathon (don’t tell me to go to /run/ it’s dead right now and anyway this has Broader fitness relevance) early next month and am looking for esoteric pre-fitness event hacks. This could be stuff you do for a bench pr, powerlifting meet, or race.My current ideas: nofap for the week before race, cut caffeine down to 30mg and then put it back up to normal on race day. Maybe cold shower that morning as well.Anyone got any good tips? Help me out here.

>>77434907I use this same one, it has improved pretty much everything in regards to my performance. It's subtle, but lifts & cardio got noticeably easier after a few weeks, and my wife noticed I don't snore anymore, and maybe it's just me, but I could swear i get better erections now.

The most esoteric health hack of all is just be normal, do what everyone else is doing, and follow the herdIn spirituality it's much the same Speaking as a person who's spent 15 years chasing health hax and 10 seeking spiritual hax, finally it's dawning on me that the best path is to lay low and deliberately try and be average in every wayEveryone else wants to be special -> you want to me normal -> you have the secret edgeThink about it

>>77434904When I ran cross country in HS, I wouldn't shave for a week before races. I ran every day, treating the slight air resistance as an added benefit to my strength. On the morning of each race, I would shave every hair on my face and legs, lightening my load and increasing my aerodynamics. I still do this for my races now, sometimes accumulating months of unshaved hair, but I now recognize that the benefit is almost purely mental - something about going from apelike hairy monkey to shaved Bateman-esque killer flips the switch in my mind
Have fun! I like races around the 13 mile distance, long enough to be challenging and hit/push through the wall a few times but without the damage and recovery time of a marathon. I personally don't do anything too special, a few meat and veggies heavy meals a few days before (early enough that I have time to shit it all out) and traditional carb loading the night before, pasta or sourdough (mostly because it sits in my guts comfortably) lots of coffee the morning of, and nothing but water, fruit, and candy during the race. I like to start the race freshly showered, morning of or night before, so I don't stink quite as bad. I used to lotion my thighs and buttcheeks but since switching to smartwool type compression shorts I don't chafe as bad anymore. Find cute, friendly girls to chat with or nonverbally flirt with as you go. Half is the perfect social race distance.
