>heavily marketed to normies
>been that way for decades
>there’s a million /fit/ and Reddit posts bitching about how much these gyms suck

No shit?? It’s like buying a LifeAlert as a 25 year old and then bitching about how useless it is

They're very useful if you use them for reasons outside their intended purpose. For example they were an oasis to me during the years I spent living out of my car. Infinite showers, water, bathrooms, locations everywhere, lounges, massages, wifi, 24 hours so the parking lots were sleepable, and you can still get a half decent workout with 75lb dumbbells/pull up stations, and most of all they're cheap.
>>
>>77435012
Mine has all that and full a full free weight sections with racks, dbs up to 80, lot of plate loaded machines so you can go beyond the stack and pin ones, smith machines. Only thing we really lack is those rope climbing or ladder machines, a pool and saunas. Gotta go that tour or virtual tour before you sign up. Not all locations have the same amenities because square footage varies and the majority of their clientele want cardio+tv so that's what they're gonna prioritize when you get some converted mall store. When you go to the bad part of town where they can get 4 times the space for the price they'll have a lot more. Even if you get a pf plan and don't want the premium membership you should at least see which pf gym in your area is the best and make that your "home gym".

I would definitely say they suffer more for urbanites because square footage of commercial real estate gets insanely expensive once you get anywhere near the size you'd need to run a fictional gym with showers and what not

My location is being renovated and has enough equipment and weights to get the job done. The only problem is the Jeets. I wish they would understand that their dysgenic third world heritage precludes them from making any meaningful progress in the gym. All they do is waste resources. And their women don’t even show any skin.

Those would be pakis then

I do free weights at home, i go there to use machines I don't have at home usually extremely early in the morning or on days off from work also extremely early.when no one is there.
The few times I've been during the day when there's people it's usually people doing sets once every 10 minutes and scrolling on their phones, or just walking on a treadmill, don't really understand why most people even frequent that gym desu or what their goals are. They don't appear to be taking it that seriously.
>>
>increased monthly membership from $10 to $15
>increased yearly membership from $100 to $250
>somehow more crowded now
I may as well invest in a home gym
>>
>>77437185
>>increased yearly membership from $100 to $250
Is this a typo or what? That would make the yearly membership more expensive than the monthly*12
>>
>>77437187
The yearly membership forgoes the $40 joining fee and yearly $50 maintenance fee.
>>
>>77437211
>12 * 15 = 180
>180 + 50 = 230
That's still $20 more than the monthly membership. Am I missing something?

I go to equinox not because they have good machine (there's a local gym that has better equipment for 1/5th the price) but because I just don't want to be around the poors. equinox is like a nice little refuge, the other people in there are good looking and have money so I can relax a bit and not worry about weird shit with roid junkies and niggers or hobos like >>77435012

why would I want to be around unsavory people? there are asshole rich people too but in general at least they have something positive going on in their lives and will just leave me alone while I do my workout. and when we interact they understand proper decorum and social protocol because they have some level of education.
>>
It's a good gym, even has mass monsters
>>
planet pizza is alright if you dont mind a dirty crowded gym full of retards and a lunk alarm

peace of mind worth it to pay more for a place just to get away from the riff raff
>>
>>77435000
Are they even that bad? Never been in one but from videos they just look like any other basic ass gym catering to casuals. Honestly with their prices they seem like good value.

In the past year or so they have been phasing out ybe previous mentality. I go to one because its within walking distance and is open 24 hours monday-thursday, and friday night + weekend hours are decent enough.
They added in proper squat racks/power cages last year and updated all their equipment too. I cant remember what I pay exactly but its half or even better compared to other gyms. Im lucky mine doesnt get too crowded and I can reasonably access what I need with minimal waiting at best except sometimes the power cages.
All in all, there's no lunk alarms and the people in there are pretty chill. No one is really pushing crazy weight like I saw when I was in LA fitness but honestly I dont care. If you want to push limits youre better off at a dedicated power lifting place but otherwise its good enough and mine is also really clean. Im sure location matters too, it helps that mine is in a more affluent neighborhood so its either successful adults or their annoying kids at worst. 14-19 year old get free summer memberships I believe everywhere.
>>
I fucking love my planet fitness.

>always clean
>never too many people
>I am always either the most jacked or second most jacked guy
>huge disproportionate amount of women and cardio bunnies
>only ever seen two black guys and they are chill
>>
I love doing stepper behind hot girls

really motivating seeing those pussies sweat

I go to the fountain a lot
>>
>>77435000
Meh if u can't get big with machines ur just a fucking retard. As long as these niggerarenas have a hacksquat it's all good
>>
>>77440420
lucky you. mine:

>never clean
>always busy
>I am always the strongest plus also usually the tallest and fattest person there but thats 99% of places
>I am gay and nothing but ugly browns
>see above. more brown than white.

take me to your PF I will bring protein bars and I can ride in the trunk and if you are attractive I promise not to touch your pp
>>
>>77435000
I go to one. They have free weights, two cages with diddly platform even.
I found I really like rowing machines.
They don't do bagel or pizza days.
Water massage is nice. And college cardiobunnies.
>>
>>77438361
You have money but no brains.
>>
>>77435000
I think PF is coming around. I have multiple memberships because of my healthplan and I travel. So I went to a new PF next to my regular gym. They have racks now. It was big and clean and now I know where all the women are working out, after wondering where the hell they all went. PF was full of dorks for sure and one roid guy with the gallon water jug, but this one was not full of Guatemalans.

Yet if they were capable of making progress, they still have insurmountable socialization barriers and abnormal behaviors.
>>
>>77437185
lol home gyms are meme and in no way, shape, or form an investment. Home gym equipment is also crazy expensive now to the point where one mid range rack could set you back the same as 5-10 years of membership fees not including any bars, plates, benches etc. If you want to talk in terms of investment take any money you have now that you could afford to throw away on home gym equipment and just stick it in any type of investment account instead and you will come out miles ahead.
>>
>>77435073
At least they don't shit on the benches too much
>>
>>77441352
Bruh i got to a huge muscular roided black guy bodybuilder phyisque
>>
>>77441352
yeah most pro athletes dont even have home gyms. if youre at the level where you needed access to one consistently like that youd be in a line of work that provided one all the time anyway
>>
Should I (lmao1/2/3/4pl8 achiever with decent aesthetics) join Planet Fitness and be king of the dyels and pick up all the cardio bunnies, or will it just be a miserable experience even though I'd probably mog most of the guys there?
>>
>>77441356
Nowadays fully equipped home gyms are just another flex for the ultra wealthy or influencers. Yes I know there is a ton of equipment targeted at dumbass normies who make above average income that fall for the scam and have a million different copes to justify the cost. In reality even if they drop 10 or 20k they are getting a fraction of the options compared to a real gym, and what they get in return is a cramped space, literal tons of shit they have to deal with if they ever move, lots if annoying compromises like setting things up and breaking them down between exercises or machines that are janky compared to commercial versions with subpar movements.
>>
>>77441421
I have a fully equipped home gym in my basement. Bench, and a barbell rack. What, you need more? Oh and I also have a pull up bar.
>>
>>77441458
i have a pretty sturdy tree and some gymnastic rings and a dumbell that can go anywhere from 5-18 kg for some reason
>>
>Smith Machine
>Pull Up/Dip Station
>Dumbbells
Adulthood is realising that if your gym has these three things you can do IFBB pro level workouts if you just program correctly. Planet fitness is fine.
>>
>>77439976
pf hasn't done the pizza shit for years now
the one built near me a year or 2 ago doesn't even have a lunk alarm, it has 4 power racks with barbells that the cardiobunnies and lanklets are afraid to use
you lost tranny. pfchads won

My club's monthly is $20/mo with $29 startup and $49 annual fee.
>20*12 + 49 = $289
>+29 start up = $318, $304 if averaged out over 2 years
...
Annual is $180 + $49 startup + $49 annual
>180+49 = $229
>+49 startup = $278, $254 averaged over two years

The nearest one to my house is 3 miles away (9 minute drive in traffic due to all the stoplights... 15 minute bicycle ride according to google maps).
Not sure if worth the commute time or not...
