What happens if you do 2x5?
>>
>>77435281
2x5 3 times a week is fine. It's what I do plus 3 warm up sets.
>>
>>77435284
>2x5 3 times a week is fine
This. It actually works pretty good, for strength gains atleast. Mentzer was a roided nutter but I think he was onto something, I think a lot of programs have people doing more than they can optimally recover from.
>>
>>77435281
i do 2 sets on almost all of my lifts, granted i am also almost only doing more than 5 reps

if you're going purely for strength i imagine 3x5 would be superior (given enough rest time)
>>
>>77435281
It usually equals 10.
>>
>>77435281
like those other anons said its actually legit. starting strength is for people starting out. you dont need that much volume after your first year.
>>
>>77435339
>>77435315
SS is one of the lowest volume programs imaginable?

Does that thing he was doing too his head real work?
>>
>>77435342
5x5 on 3 heavy compounds per session is high volume once you're no longer a beginner.

SS is 1-3x5 on 3 compounds (and nothing else)
>>
>>77435351
It's brutally hard once the weight gets heavy. Like you get nervous about each upcoming workout for days before
>>
>>77435354
i got memed into SS when i started lifting, you don't have to explain how it works to me lol. i was just pointing out to that guy that the volume was roughly 1/2 of what he thought it was (and can't possibly be conceived as high volume)
>>
The magic numbers are 6x6
>>
>>77435315
>oh hey guys I nail every set beyond your wildest dreams
I would probably pay you for lifting technique info and I am broke.
>>
>>77435345
Yes but not on it's own
He was derma-rolling (derma-stamping is a better and safer form of micro-needling). This improves the efficacy of minoxadil and finasteride.
>>
>>77435281
rip looks like he's permanently doing the valsalva maneuver
>>
>>77435281
Solid for a medium high program
>2x5 bench
>3x3-8 back
>smoke break
>2x5 bench typically a slightly different variant
>either call it a day or get ahead on shoulders or arms then some more accessory work the next day
This with 1-2 days rest once or twice then 3 days or so.
>>
>>77435386
>disclaimer
I would group shit like pec flies or even incline bench into the 2nd day in terms of a program that scales. Replacing flat bench is stupid and chest is like the lower back of upper body. Hit it first and do the rest just like squats leg curls and calves. Only if you have imbalances do you need to bench less and you still probably are just doing something wrong anyways.
>>
Use easy weight (~50-60% of your max), pick 5 exercises, 2x5. 5 times a week. Thank me later.
>>
>>77435426
Boy that's fucking stupid. Stop giving advice.
>>
>>77435431
That's litterally Dan John & Pavel Tsatsouline Easy strength program.
Kill yourself.
>>
>>77435443
It's moronic. A newbie does not have a 'max.' He gets a new 'max' every single workout. Nothing could be stupider than him going into the gym, figuring his 'max' and then lifting half of that. It's totally insane. Linear progression is the move here. We've solved this already.
>>
>>77435463
Nobody talked about 2x5 being for noobs. You just made the assumption because of rippletits OP pic.
>>
>>77435281
Great for powerlifting if you're training pause bench or pause squat
>>
>>77435536
>pause squat
What for? Pause bench I get since it's part of powerlifting but why squat
>>
>>77435315
>I think a lot of programs have people doing more than they can optimally recover from.
This. They're all designed for fucking roiders and will hurt people who aren't on their junk. Normal people need to dial back from that powerlifting bootcamp shit.
>>
>>77435537
Train the weaker chains of the lift, explode more on your working sets and PRs, more stability and controlled breathing (klokov squat for example), learn to nail the correct degree instead of bouncing 10 degrees off parallel
Most importantly it's just fun to test
>>
>>77435315
>>77435542
For the vast majority of "well-known" and "tested" programs, if you dont recover well or hit failure where you shouldnt then you're just ego lifting and calculated a target that's far beyond your current scope
>>
>>77435343
Wtf how
>>
>>77435386
What are you training for, the large breast and shit everything else division bodybuilding show?
>>
>>77435426
>>77435443
Ah yes the pantyboy routine.
Stop giving advice.

Rippletits personally comes and berates you in front of your parents and crush for having a small peepee

I do 3x5 four times a week, PPLxP with two push days one chest focused the other shoulder focused

It's two different people you mong.

No. Only fin+min+a trip to Turkey work.

>It's two different people you mong.
Idk anon, I have a thing for faces, I am pretty sure that is the same dude. This old guy I know who used to work security for casinos said they hired people like me before facial recognition was a thing to screen crowds for people who were blacklisted.

>>77435791
Drugs. I'm sure he put in some hard work on himself but it absolutely wouldn't have been possible with hairloss treatments & TRT.

>inb4 you're indian
>>
>>77435566
Bullshit, they tell you to add 5 lbs to the bar every week if you're making your sets, and that is what people do, and end up with tendonitis even if they're not failing reps.
>>
>>77435343
not the same guy
>>
>>77436640
5lbs a week for 2-3 months if you're a beginner and eating well is extremely feasible unless you're an utterly useless slob
>>
>>77435281
is that two sets of five reps, or five sets of two reps?
>>
>>77436808
Is it normal to stall out on OHP and bench pretty frequently? I’m doing stronglifts 5x5 twice a week and I’ve been stuck on 70 for OHP for a while and 105 for bench for like 3 workouts. Still been making progress on row squat and DL though
>>
>>77436993
Are these in kilogram ? Are you a male ? If so yes it's very normal, your chest is probably outworking your delts or tris. Do more work on these. Pushdown, lateral raises, skullcrusher...
If no to both questions just give up
>>
>>77436993
Don't do 5x5
Take smaller than 5 lb jumps
Eat more
>>
>>77435343
derma roller HYPER RESPONDER, holy shit... or the after is just another guy!

How strong is too strong for SS?
>>
>>77436993
SL and SS are just not enough volume for upper body. Same with 531 if you don't take the push accessories seriously enough. You need to train your upper body like a bodybuilder. When you bench, do a light OHP with dumbbels and vice versa. Consider doing a 3rd day just for volume and fun. Rows do well with higher volume too.
BUILD the muscles by EATING lots of protein. Unlike your legs your upper body has not had any reason to grow and stay big so it's simply not enough muscle. Most importantly be stubborn and never give up even when it feels hopeless. Stubbornness is a virtue most get too late in life.
>>
>>77437016
lbs and yeah I’m a male. I realize I’m not very strong my first few months I got disrupted by workout migraines (from supplements or something) but I’m back consistently. Eating as much protein as I can but escaping skelly mode has been a struggle. At least my legs look bigger.

>>77437226
I’ve only got like maybe a month left of SL 5x5, programs you’d recommend to move on to? My goal is to get strong “enough” and then do some bodybuilding for upper body, lower body all I really give a fuck about is conditioning to go skiing
>>
>>77435281
>>77435284
>>77435315
It's good but only if you're actually strong. There's no point in doing that if your benching like 70kg or some shit

Training >2.5pl8 bench is a whole different game than being a novice going from 1pl8 to 2pl8. I did 3x3 to reach 3pl8/140kg, my all time max. You don't need much volume at all when the weight is that heavy
