Do some people respond better to dips vs bench press?
>>77436416Presumably? How many people is enough for you?
>>77436416Did he forget his gear that day? It's the most deflated and maybe even "normal" I've seen him.
>>77436416All I know is my progress on bench continues to drag ass. Currently max working load is 160 for 2 sets of 5 reps, and they're grueling dogshit reps. Versus my weighted dip, which is 260 for 2 sets of 5 clean as fuck reps.
>>77436584If there is such a discrepancy between your bench and your dips is because either your form is awful, you are not getting enough depth or you are using a weighed machine of some sort that skews the weight because of leverage. It makes zero sense. Check your programing and your exercise selection, weight used, form. Etc.
>>77436588I know I flare my elbows too much on bench & yes, it's a dip machine. But I have gym bros with chests & arms that dwarf mine doing half my weight on that machine. Even with it being a machine it makes no sense. And I know my form ain't perfect on bench but I've tried everything. Don't some people just have slow growing chests?
>>77436416What the fuck? Is this photo from before he started working out?
>>77436416I do both. Dips are making my bench worse due to less rest days but I am assuming it will be better in the long run assuming I can avoid tendonitis.
>>77436416>bellyfatOk I feel better now, thanks anon
>>77436604Yeah maybe I would check the rep scheme. Plus mobility and how you are warming up or activating the area before. Film yourself lifting both. Reduce your weight in bench press to 150 or even less. But improve your form, then add volume start with 3x3, 4x3, 4x4, 4x5, 4x6. When you move that comfortably add weight and go back to 3x3 and so on. Dont use the weighted dip machine. Use a regular one and try to do full rom dips. These are much more demanding than regular ones. Also, how is your back work? Can you do at least 10 clean pullups? Do you do barbell row? There is a connection between your back strength and the stability of your bench. Plus, do high rep close grip bench presses with LITTLE weight. Don't ego lift this! Also, don't neglect your direct tricep work, specially tricep extensions with a bar. Lying tricep extensions target the long head of the triceps. You are overstimating your true strength with poor form, because your discrepancy between such similar exercises makes no sense. It's better to face reality and start from scratch. Something like 5/3/1 is great. Don't go to the gym with no periodization or plan. Doing it correctly will be better in the long run. It's safer too.
>>77436416All I know is that dips help with my bench.
>>77436416Seems like he's off the sauce there - still bigger than 99% of males.
>>77436604>machine is easier than freeweights>has tried everything except doing the exercise i know i'm doing wrong properlyTry that. Glad we got that query cleared up for you.
>>77436416>Do some people respond better to dips vs bench press?massive steroids.
Dips are a triceps exercise
for me? its the JM Press™ and my tris have exploded (not literally theyre just huge compared to my bis)
>>77436432pull your shoulders all the way back and look in the mirror
>>77436891depends how do you them
they train different parts of the pecs though
>>77438213So do both?
>>77438256Nta but i do decline press as well as incline and flys
>>77436608This is the most dyel comment ive ever read on this godforsaken "fitness" board
>>77438265I find decline press a bit dumb. Same movement as chest dips but less ROM, less stable, riskier to go to failure
What about incline pushups
>>77438256I do incline bench for upper pecs and dips for lower pecs, and then horizontal flyes for good measure
>>77436697>>machine is easier than freeweightsThat's funny cause people who train free weights and then tested on machines did poorly, and vice versa. It's almost like that argument is retarded and you're a fag.
>>77438862Dips hurt cartilage in my chest while dips do not. I never really got a good pump from dips like i can from decline press or fly, but that's probably because it fucking hurts like a mf.
